I was sitting with several mancs watching their game #****ingshite They were happy to inform me that we'd gone 1 down. At 2 - 2, they were telling me how we'd dropped 2 points and spuds would be overhauling us. I said "This isn't done yet lads". Then BOOM!!! "Shove that up your manc arseholes" I advised them
You were very poor in the first half- going in at 1-1 probably gave the players in red renewed hope. Gerrard's pass was brilliant. The fans and players were a bit shocked when we were leading, if we had a bit more experience we might have been able to extend it before half time but collective nerves started to grow and once Coutinho scored the winner was coming. I think it was Suarez who hit the post too, before the final blow. Can't really complain about the result, wish you hadn't done it in such a cruel way. The announcement at the end did make me laugh though - no services out of Euston for any fans heading north. Presume most were on buses or staying over. Good luck with your top 4 / title challenge.
Fair play to Fulham, gave us a hard time in the first half, we were poor but that's not to take away from their first half performance, lucky to be level at half time. Second half, we were the better team, the were restricted to hitting us on the break, their goal came against the run of play but I liked the fact that we didn't panic and continued to play our football. Happy to take a win, neutrals would say it was harsh on Fulham not to get anything out of the game after their first half efforts (I would agree) but its a cruel world, you don't always get what you deserve. Happy to win whilst not firing on all cylinders and as its already been said, these sort of wins do more for the confidence/belief than the win (and manner of) against the likes of Spurs, Everton and Arsenal.
Got to say lads some harsh comments on here, some of you might not have noticed but we did come away with all 3 points. Firstly I'm not sure how it came across on the telly but the weather conditions, especially early on were far from ideal for playing nice, pretty football. Secondly according to one of their own fans that was Fulhams best performance since they beat Palace in October. Certainly last night they were better than I've seen them all season (which hasn't been a lot admittedly) and they played like a team with a bit of fight back in their bellies. Some of you lot seem to think these games are easy, that we can just turn up and stroll them. Since when does Premiership footy work like that? Taking into consideration the conditions, I thought the game was massively exciting, full of incident and we just about did enough to earn the win. Ok so our defending is Keystone Cops but at least we aren't having to watch the dull dross served up by the likes of the chavs week in week out and the Arse vs mancs game sounded like a festival of dullness by all accounts. Ming...I'm still not convinced but wasn't at fault for either goal. Did ok in tough conditions. Flannel....as with the whole back line he had a bit of a stinker. I'm sure he wasn't helped by having to play next to Laurel and Hardy though. Skrtel....every time we start to believe then you go and have a bit of a mare. Toure....head's in the shed. He's supposed to provide the experience but god he is an x rated experience at times. Kolo I'm pretty certain has been abducted by aliens and is suffering with shock from all the probing. Cissokho....amazingly he was possibly the least useless of the defenders last night. Gerrard...MOTM for me. Passing was excellent (the ball for our first was a thing of genius), covered as much ground as he could and kept his cool with what could be the pivotal moment of our season. Henderson...the usual bundle of energy. Average but did enough as always. Coutinho....in and out of the game and as is often the case he's nowhere near as effective against a deep sitting back four. Really does need to improve his shooting too but glad he got a bit of luck for the goal as he hasn't had any luck over the past couple of months. Sterling....as with Cout he looks a lot less effective against a back four that doesn't allow much space in behind. Not at his best but was always going to be tough. Suarez....looked a bit leggy last night (first time I've said that all season) but still pivotal in everything we do as a team. Even when he wasn't on the ball he was doing his best to shift the Fulham defenders around and drag them out of position. His little flick was a touch of outrageous quality too Sturridge...his usual frustrating self at times but ultimately key to the victory. Great finish for the first too. Honourable mention for Tex as well, came off the bench and coped well. Could be another option for the future. All in all a "typical LFC" away performance really but a rather untypical last minute winner...in the past we'd have deflated when Fulham got the second. This season we KNOW we can score and that's the difference and the late goal is bound to come as a bit of a blow to our rivals. We also know exactly where we need to improve as a team which gives us reason to think we can get better We aren't perfect but we are undoubtedly a different proposition to the team of 12-18 months ago and that for me is a reason to be cheerful.
My mums cousin has a place just off the Fulham Rd Nice pad (flash git haha) but the wrong end of the road so about 3 miles from the ground
Think we should sell Toure and Skrtel after their mistakes. Also need to get rid of Suarez, hasn't scored in a couple of games now. Bad apple. Rodgers can only play counter attack and we didn't buy Messi in Jan. We'll be lucky to get 10th
Man United might be looking for some "experience" when Vidic and Wio leave at the end of the season. We should give them Toure in exchange for a big turd.
