Just to clarify. You'd all rather repeat the 2000/01 season? Where we won the domestic treble (including a strong Weegie opponent) but got knocked out of the UEFA in the 2nd round rather than winning the league and playing in the CL?
Millions where wasted in the Summer ... with one success (VVD), one too early to judge (Pukki) .. rest, ****in ****e! Failure to recognise change and where it is needed. Failure to change tactics when needed.
Lennon is a fud Bib. I lost all faith in him when he played Samaras up-front on his own against Milan at CP. Fud behaviour.
There's bene no progress made ... not all Lennon's fault! The Celtic board never kick on when "on top"... they sit back and settle!
I said on here just before we got Easter Island napper Mowbray that we should have went for Michael Laudrup and I still think we should go in for him. Been unlucky at Getafe, Mallorca and Swansea in that he did well in his first season with an unfancied team then struggled in the 2nd season due to playing in the Europa league.
Managers out of work: Di Matteo, Trappatoni, Jupp Heynckes, BIELSA, Di Canio, Thorsten Fink, Hiddink, Lothar Matthaus, Riijkaard.
Will any of these guys sign a rolling one year contract with no wage rise year on year? Laudrup would be a great shout, actually, but I don't see him taking what we offer. If any manager takes a job where he gets grief for not winning a domestic treble, he's on to a loser right away.
If that's the only contract the board will offer then we'll be stuck with ex-players/journeymen managers and it will be confirmed that the board is full of ****e and has no ambition whatsoever. Lennon isn't getting grief for just failing to win a Treble, Bib.That's nothing more than selective reasoning. Lennon is doing my nut in for a number of reasons. The Aberdeen result was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.
OK. So, the games that preceded that (M'well H, Hibs A, Killie H) was where we played our best football of the season. We won't splash out on a manager because the manager will only have so much of a say in who we sign anyway. Trust me, some folk wanted Strachan out and were pleased when we got Mowbray (dare I say quite a sizeable majority?) because "Strachan's brand of fitba has turned me off", "Mowbray will have us playing an attacking, passing game" etc etc. It's hagiography to deny that's what most folk thought. Just be careful what you wish for. We get rid of Lennon and replace him with someone like Laudrup - Laudrup fails to get us into the UCL, Laudrup gets bumped Mowbray-style and we end up with Danny McGrain managing the team? I don't want another Mowbray or Brady - someone who's supposed to bring back a certain type of attacking, silky flair to our play who then gets us ****ing nowhere. I get that people are annoyed at Lennon's team selections - was there ever a Celtic manager who didn't get those moans?
