QPR losing 1-0 but had a quick look on their match thread Hopefully that wasn't said with tongue in cheek!
Holtby ran 13km, further than anyother player in the league midweek. He's certainly sorted out the fitness issues our coaching staff had with him.
Don't forget, Swindon Hotspur are playing tonight in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern area final second leg. 19:45 on Sky Sports 1. Spurs are on their way their way to Wembley...
Pritchard scored Swindon's only goal of the tie, as they drew 1-1 on the night. The rather unique rules of the JPT didn't see them go through though, despite a 2-2 away draw in the first leg. You'd have thought that the result would either see Swindon progress or a move to extra time, but it went straight to penalties. Massimo Luongo missed the first, in true Spurs style, Yaser Kasim, Pritchard and Troy Archibald-Henville all scored (4 of 4 from Spurs, bizarrely), before Tijane Reis missed and Peterborough won. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Really hope Pritchard gets a chance with us next season, Bentaleb has shown that you don't necessarily have to get loaned out 10 times before you're ready.
Pritchard's performances haven't gone unnoticed, as he's been nominated for the Young Player of the Year Award in the Football League. He's up against Will Hughes of Derby, who's been linked with a host of Premier League clubs including us and Liverpool, and Liam Moore of Leicester, who Fulham bid for in January. Pretty impressive really, especially when he's playing in a lower division and those two are in promotion chasing sides. Well done to him.
Are you saying Swindon aren't a promotion chasing side? *sniff* I didn't think it was over yet *sniff* We could beat Wolves tonight *waaaaaaa* 10 games left... A Chadli / Pritchard swap would go down nicely next season.
Swindon manager Cooper said: "Pritch took a couple of heavy tackles, but he has not given the referee any option with his reaction and hopefully he will learn from what happened. He will receive a nasty fine. "But in fairness to him he waited by the dressing room door and shook everyone's hand at the end, saying how sorry he was." I like him more and more. please log in to view this image
Might be a bit of a controversial view but I think its good that he's got some fight in him. Especially with a young player though, its about channelling that in the right ways. This clearly wasn't the right way! But fair play for him apologising at the end.
How badly did that Bristol player want to go down? I'm not excusing Pritchard's actions, but if he wasn't a footballer, then he'd make a good hobbit.
I couldn't post the crunching tackle before the push, but Pritch got wiped out. It would have been hard for the pope to remain calm. If he'd been getting them all game, as you would expect in a local derby, he can be forgiven. If he gets these yellows and reds out the way this season, all is good. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.
Tom Carroll has come in for some stick this reason because he hasn't set the world alight but after being out of the team, his return has been met with a rise in fortunes for QPR and there are stats to back up when Carroll plays, QPRs win rate increases greatly. Just a few comments from the QPR board to show there are QPR fans who see his potential, as there is a discussion regarding Carroll and his role in their team. Hope to see Carroll grow as a player and return next year and flourish under Sherwood
Nothing really changed on Carroll then. Basic technical ability is not disputed, ability to take charge (a must for a CM playmaker) and deal with the physicality is (which is precisely why he is there on loan) .
Coulthirst opened his Torquay account today and got an assist, as the bottom club in the league won 2-1 away against fellow strugglers Bristol Rovers. They basically need to win all of their remaining games to have any chance of staying up, though.
Pritchard got another goal for Swindon today, opening the scoring as they went on to nick a late winner in a 2-1 victory over Coventry. They'll need a late surge and mistakes by Peterborough if they're going to sneak into the play-offs, though. Wonder if Sherwood will end up their next season?
Tom Carroll returned to the QPR line up and helped them seal a playoff place, playing 90 minutes http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27016261 Austin is back scoring for QPR so hopefully they can get promotion. Sherwood recently said Although if Sherwood moves on then it will be tough for either player unless they really impress in training and I wouldn't be surprised to see Carroll move to QPR on a permanent deal if QPR are promoted and Redknapp stays.
