No inter club crap here please just because it seems an opportunity - honest opinions please. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26116370
It did seem deliberate from Bellers, however like I said on the Jacks board.. God help us if it had been Chico. In all fairness to De Guzman he never made a meal of it. I think a punishment is fair. If the shoe was on the other foot, we would be calling for the Jack's heads on a plate.
It was deliberate, not a major thump more of a wind up. All down to whether or not the ref saw it. If he says he did (as he must have as he was stood so close and looking straight at the players concerned) and chose to take no action then book closed. If he says he didn't see it (not sure how he can say that) then Bellers in for a fine at least if not a fine and ban. Bit dull of him really. I know he works on winding up the opposition and did a very good job on Rangel at our place but to do something like that in the middle of the pitch (nearly) with the ref close by was not a good idea. Mind you if he had done it to Chico we would have had stretcher bearers on and an ambulance parked on the touchline with its engine running.
Based on the Andy Carrol decision the intent from Bellers should've been enough for a red. I think the AC decision was bollocks and that it wasn't a red card but there you go. The ref did seem to see it, he shook his head after watching it happen so perhaps that'll have an effect. I don't know what the rules are now regarding what the ref has seen nowadays.
Don't know whether it didn't lay him out because Bellamy missed or because he didn't mean it to, but the contact was definitely intentional. I don't think we could protest too loudly if he gets a ban.
It doesnt matter How hard it was. Why did he actually change direction of his run to hit another player from behind and with a clenched fist. I cant understand what he was thinking. He was your only player on the day who showed up. (which is no more than i would expect from him). Now there is the possibility of loosing him for 3 games. If he gets banned he owes you the fans and the club a big appology.
TLF I'm not excusing him or making an issue of how hard he hit him - although it was his forearm not his fist. Either was inexcusable. Whichever way you cut it, it was a stupid thing to do and he should have been a lot more subtle if he had an axe to grind. All down to whether or not the ref says he saw it and chose not to act.
He should not have done it and shows he still is petulant. Marriner saw it so no retrospective action can be taken IMO.
anyone got a vid of it....ive not seen it 2 make my mind up.............seems he was lucky it wasn't chico or he could have been up on a attempted murder charge.
Are you sure it wasnt a punch. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ng-punch-Jonathan-De-Guzman-derby-defeat.html
Saw it from all angles on tv Saturday. Yes his fist is clenched but it was the forearm that made contact. But does it really matter, he hit him end of. The only question is whether or not the ref saw it and decided to take no action. P.S. Please don't believe all you see or read in the Daily Fail.
Stop making a mountain out of a molehill. The only good thing was that the Swansea player didn't go down like that little girl playing for Swansea at west ham.
Yes I'm sure it wasn't a punch, the angle of the photo/screen grab is very misleading. As mentioned above though it's pretty much irrelevant, he intended to strike him and there can be no complaints if he gets banned regardless of the fact it was all rather pathetic. No hassle with a bit of needle just need to be a lot more clever than that about it. That's not really a Bellamy speciality though.
How am i making a mountain out of a molehill. All i have put on here is a report from a news paper. As i sadi earlier it doent matter how hard the alleged punch/elbow/forearm was. the bloke was crazy for doing it and tif Mariner says he hasnt seen it then he will be banned. If Mariner did see it and didnt think there was anything in it then he wont be. All I have put on here are what appear to be the facts and I think i have been fair throughout. You really need to chill.
Mariner can be clearly seen watching it happen then shaking his head. There is no way he can claim he hasn't seen it.
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cardiff-city-star-craig-bellamy-6692466? Looks like he has been charged then lads.
No arguments here as he clearly hit him. Strange Marriner denied seeing it though. Should have gone to Specsavers as he was looking straight at it. Ah well, 3 games out and a fine. Can't see any grounds for defence. At least one of the games will be Saturday's cup game and as others have commented on the "Team for tomorrow" thread there was no guarantee he would play 2 games in 4 days anyway. So that's 2 of the 3 gone. An aside thought, why did he clip him? I didn't see any previous.
It did look deliberate and will probably result in a ban. Rangels kick at Zaha also looked deliberate so where is the charge for that?
