    Righteo, a little topic to put your money where your mouth is in regards to our "relegation form" of the last 11 games.

    These games are:
    West Ham 2-0 Swansea
    Swansea 2-0 Fulham
    Swansea 1-3 Tottenham
    Man Utd 2-0 Swansea
    Swansea 2-3 Man City
    Aston Villa 1-1 Swansea
    Chelsea 1-0 Swansea
    Swansea 1-2 Everton
    Norwich 1-1 Swansea
    Swansea 1-1 Hull
    Swansea 3-0 Newcastle

    A total of 9 points from 27. So an average of 0.82 points per game, which over 38 games would come in at 31 points. So relegation form yes?

    Right got that sorted, now the task here for you guys is to give me the points total from each of the following games.

    Fulham
    Man Utd (a) =
    Everton (h) =
    Hull (h) =
    Newcastle (h) =

    Cardiff
    Fulham (h) =
    Hull (h) =

    West Brom
    Fulham (h) =
    Tottenham (h) =

    Sunderland
    Man Utd (a) =
    Chelsea (a) =
    Everton (h) =

    Norwich
    West Ham (a) =
    Tottenham (h) =
    Man Utd (a) =
    Aston Villa (a) =
    Chelsea (a) =
    Swansea (a) =

    West Ham
    Tottenham (h) =
    Hull (h) =

    Crystal Palace
    West Ham (a) =
    Man City (h) =

    Stoke
    Fulham (h) =
    Tottenham (h) =
    Aston Villa (a) =
    Norwich (a) =
    Hull (h) =
    Newcastle (h) =

    Villa
    Fulham (h) =
    Man Utd (a) =
    Swansea (a) =
    Hull (h) =

    Hull City
    West Ham (a) =
    Man Utd (a) =
    Man City (h) =
    Aston Villa (a) =
    Everton (h) =
    Swansea (h) =
    Newcastle (h) =

    The object is to work out how many points you reckon the teams above are going to get in those games. Now bare in mind if you put Hull to beat West Ham at home, you cannot then put West ham to draw against Hull away.

    So lets see how many points you reckon these teams will get from the games listed.

    And then how that compares to our current points total against the same run of fixtures, to see how truly awful our form has really been

    The way I see it is that we lost all 5 against top 9 teams. Other bottom 11 teams are picking up points against those teams. Just one example, WHU got a point at Chelsea. In any case, I think it's relegation form and you don't. I won't convince you otherwise and you won't convince me. So nothing more to say.You could go on all day picking out certain matches to make the point.

    I will even get the ball rolling

    Fulham
    Man Utd (a) = 0
    Everton (h) = 1
    Hull (h) = 1
    Newcastle (h) = 1

    Cardiff
    Fulham (h) = 3
    Hull (h) = 1

    West Brom
    Fulham (h) = 3
    Tottenham (h) = 0

    Sunderland
    Man Utd (a) = 0
    Chelsea (a) = 0
    Everton (h) = 1

    Norwich
    West Ham (a) = 0
    Tottenham (h) = 0
    Man Utd (a) = 0
    Aston Villa (a) = 0
    Chelsea (a) = 0
    Swansea (a) = 0

    West Ham
    Tottenham (h) = 1
    Hull (h) = 1

    Crystal Palace
    West Ham (a) = 0
    Man City (h) = 0

    Stoke
    Fulham (h) = 3
    Tottenham (h) = 0
    Aston Villa (a) = 0
    Norwich (a) = 0
    Hull (h) = 1
    Newcastle (h) = 1

    Villa
    Fulham (h) = 3
    Man Utd (a) = 0
    Swansea (a) = 1
    Hull (h) = 1

    Hull City
    West Ham (a) = 1
    Man Utd (a) = 0
    Man City (h) = 0
    Aston Villa (a) = 1
    Everton (h) = 0
    Swansea (h) = 1
    Newcastle (h) = 1

    So my final tally is
    Fulham = 3
    Cardiff = 4
    West Brom = 3
    Sunderland = 1
    Norwich = 0
    West Ham = 2
    Palace = 0
    Stoke = 5
    Villa = 5
    Hull = 4

    So what do you guys have?

    I am asking your opinion, surely it is in both our interests to see what you think the outcome of those games would be. Bit of fun and all.

    Best to wait for the results and then we'll know for sure. I may think Man U will beat Fulham, but it doesn't mean they will. Football throws up lots of surprise results. I expected Chelsea to beat WHU but they didn't, so what does that prove? I don't know why you care so much. I think it was relegation form and you don't. That's our opinions. We can each believe what we like.

    Well that is why I am asking your opinion, not asking you for the lottery numbers. Just want to see your predictions, they may end up right, they may end up wrong, I am just curious, what do you have to lose by answering? Nothing.

    4 wins in our last 7 games in all competitions say volumes about players returning , far from relegation form

    Here's a few examples from recently.

    Swansea lost all last 5 against top 9 teams. Meanwhile...

    Norwich 0 Man City 0
    WBA 1 Liverpool 1
    Hull 1 Spurs 1
    Stoke 2 Man U 1
    Chelsea 0 WHU 0
    WBA 1 Everton 1
    Liverppol 2 Aston Villa 2

    See, lots of them picking up at least some points.

    It doesn't matter whether it is or not. Even it is wasn't relegation form, Laudrup has still gone, so people need to get over it and move on. He's not coming back no matter what our form was. He's gone.

    And also 4 out of 14. Cup competitions often throw up different results. Teams can be really crap in the league and still win cup games.

    End of debate for me, as I don't really care. I just care about what happens next.

    I tend to agree with both arguements here. (talk about sitting on the fence). Yes i think over the last 11 games it has been relegation form, but, in those results there have been some excellent performances with out us getting what we deserved in terms of results. Also during those 11 games we have had up to 6 first choice players out at any one time. I defy any premier League side to be able to deal with that over an extended period. (Man U have been bleating at having 2 players out).
    So over the last 11 games i think we have performed ok with out possibly getting any luck in terms of results.
    However, Where i was starting to get concerned was the lack of passion/motivation our players were showing. That has to come from the manager and i wonder whether he was able to inspire them anymore. That coupled with the fact the players new he would not be here at the end of the season, for me, started to show a malaise around the playinging and coaching squad.
    I think we needed a change, I dont think the coaching will cahnge, But someone who can put a bit of fire in the players bellys and a bit of passion in the badge and that did seem to happen yesterday.
    The other i dis notice yesterday was that we played with a lot more width yesterday than we have done and that seemed to work.
    I dont think that Gary Monk is a man for the long term job. But He is what we have and we should all be 100% behind him for the time he is in charge. It seems the players are. Just look at where Ash ran when we scored.

    Jenkins knew he could fire anyone in as manager with players coming back and games becoming easier , so he pulled off his "personal vendetta " knowing Laudrups team was ready to vastly improve for the rest of the season. What he overlooked is the big picture , long term damage he has done to the club starting in the summer , , time will certainly tell.

    One could argue that the games played against Norwich, hull and Aston Villa should have been won, as we played relatively well in those (I remember the av-game as a loss of 2 points). Swansea were extremely poor against why. Furthermore we could have got a draw against man c.
    It wasn't the teams form that caused the dismissal of ML, but either personal disagreements or a philosophical clash of ideas...

    we were bottom of the form league and going nowhere and that's the reality whether you like it or not. Jinx had given him enough chances and like most fans and players and staff we all had enough....The club has changed over night as soon as he was sacked and that has reflected back on to the pitch, my only regret is that we never did it sooner..<ok>

    I completely agree.

    Laudrup didn't get sacked based on form - that can't be it. We've been incredibly unlucky, having an injury crisis and a horrible fixture list. The problem has clearly been one of motivation and commitment and off the field matters. Laudrup had lost the dressing room and with so many key games left, that's dangerous.

    You couldn't even get the first one right. I assume you were trying to prove that other teams would do badly against these teams, as that would excuse us doing badly. Well you failed at the first hurdle. Even Fulham can pick up points away to the top teams.

    The point was I wanted your predictions, after all you seem to be quick enough to moan at people who don't agree with you, in regards to your claims of relegation form, so wanted to see if you could put your money where your mouth is, which no surprise, you failed to do so, making excuses as to why you would not answer the question.

    Fulham got a point, so thats 1 extra than what I was giving them, but then they could lose that point in another game, its the beauty of PREDICTIONS.

    And there was a valid reason for that, as you claim we were in relegation form after picking up 1 win in our last 11 (which happened to be 2 wins btw, which I pointed out in another thread, as the Newcastle game was the 11th game, which we won 3-0

    Anyhow, point is during those 11 games we picked up just 9 points.

    Lets look at those last 11 games.

    West Ham 2-0 Swansea
    Swansea 2-0 Fulham
    Swansea 1-3 Tottenham
    Man Utd 2-0 Swansea
    Swansea 2-3 Man City
    Aston Villa 1-1 Swansea
    Chelsea 1-0 Swansea
    Swansea 1-2 Everton
    Norwich 1-1 Swansea
    Swansea 1-1 Hull
    Swansea 3-0 Newcastle

    Now lets look at how the other teams around us did in the very same fixtures

    Fulham
    West Ham (a) = 0 points
    Swansea (h) = 0 points
    Tottenham (h) = 0 points
    Man Utd (a) = 1 point
    Man City (h) = 0 points
    Aston Villa (a) = 1 point
    Chelsea (a) = 0 points
    Everton (h) = n/a
    Norwich (a) = 1 point
    Hull (h) = n/a
    Newcastle (h) = n/a

    Total = 3 points, so would need to get 7 points from Everton (h), Hull (h), Newcastle (h)

    Cardiff
    West Ham (a) = 0 points
    Fulham (h) = n/a
    Tottenham (h) = 0 points
    Man Utd (a) = 0 points
    Man City (h) = 3 points
    Aston Villa (a) = 0 point
    Chelsea (a) = 0 points
    Everton (h) = 1 point
    Norwich (a) = 1 point
    Hull (h) = n/a
    Newcastle (h) = 0 points

    Total = 5 points, so would need to get 5 points from Fulham (h), Hull (h)

    West Brom
    West Ham (a) = 1 point
    Fulham (h) = n/a
    Tottenham (h) = n/a
    Man Utd (a) = 3 points
    Man City (h) = 0 points
    Aston Villa (a) = 0 point
    Chelsea (a) = 1 point
    Everton (h) = 1 point
    Norwich (a) = 0 point
    Hull (h) = 1 point
    Newcastle (h) = 1 point

    Total = 8 points, so would need to get 2 points from Fulham (h), Spurs (h)

    Sunderland
    West Ham (a) = 1 point
    Fulham (h) = 0 points
    Tottenham (h) = 0 points
    Man Utd (a) = n/a
    Man City (h) = 0 points
    Aston Villa (a) = 1 point
    Chelsea (a) = n/a
    Everton (h) = n/a
    Norwich (a) = 1 point
    Hull (h) = 0 points
    Newcastle (h) = 3 points

    Total = 6 points, so would need to get 4 points from Man Utd (a), Everton (h)

    Norwich
    West Ham (a) = n/a
    Fulham (h) = 0 points
    Tottenham (h) = n/a
    Man Utd (a) = n/a
    Man City (h) = 1 point
    Aston Villa (a) = n/a
    Chelsea (a) = n/a
    Everton (h) = 1 point
    Swansea (a) = n/a
    Hull (h) = 3 points
    Newcastle (h) = 1 point

    Total = 6 points, so would need to get 4 points from West Ham (a), Spurs (h), Man Utd (a), Aston Villa (a), Chelsea (a), Swansea (a)

    West Ham
    Swansea (a) = 1 point
    Fulham (h) = 3 points
    Tottenham (h) = n/a
    Man Utd (a) = 0 points
    Man City (h) = 0 points
    Aston Villa (a) = 3 points
    Chelsea (a) = 1 point
    Everton (h) = 0 points
    Norwich (a) = 0 points
    Hull (h) = n/a
    Newcastle (h) = 0 points

    Total = 8 points, so would need to get 2 points from Spurs (h), Hull (h)

    Crystal Palace
    West Ham (a) = n/a
    Fulham (h) = 0 points
    Tottenham (h) = 0 points
    Man Utd (a) = 0 points
    Man City (h) = n/a
    Aston Villa (a) = 3 points
    Chelsea (a) = 0 points
    Everton (h) = 1 point
    Norwich (a) = 0 points
    Hull (h) = 3 points
    Newcastle (h) = 0 points

    Total = 7 points, so would need to get 3 points from West Ham (a), Man City (h)

    Stoke
    West Ham (a) = 3 points
    Fulham (h) = n/a
    Tottenham (h) = n/a
    Man Utd (a) = 0 points

    So lets then see what they get after including my predictions (only a piss about remember, one your doing well to try and get out of joining in) have also added the point Fulham picked up at United, after all I am curious to see how good this relegation form is when you have a narrow minded view like yours that does not account for the opposition played either.

    Swansea = 9/33
    Fulham = 6/33
    Cardiff = 9/33
    West Brom = 11/33
    Sunderland = 7/33
    Norwich = 6/33
    West Ham = 10/33
    Crystal Palace = 7/33
    Stoke = 10/33
    Aston Villa = 12/33
    Hull = 8/33

    Now I could be wrong, some may pick up extra points, some may drop a point. But then after all, that's what a prediction is, but on that basis, and what I have predicted, our form is really not that bad considering. As there would be 5 clubs with a worse return from those games (if my predications were right, which they probably wont be).
