http://www1.skysports.com/football/...rene-meulensteen-after-upsetting-substitution Presume it will be put down to mis-translation but clearly Hugo is upset with Rene, although that was quite obvious from his reaction. Don't know of his popularity in the squad and if this has any effect on others.
They were all as bad as each other... In all fairness Demspey should have gone first, but glad that he played the whole 120 minutes which prob means will not feature against Utd. Another one that has past it...
I think Hugo knew this was his last chance to impress (as the big Greek and Bent would be starting ahead of him from now on) and he was more upset with himself than the fact he was subbed. I didn't mind his emotional outburst, at least it shows he cares.
he needs to grow a pair and man up! I can't believe he's being such a moaning old woman. Christ! Sort it out Hugo, you have to earn respect mate!
He has absolutely nothing to be upset over. If he rates himself so highly how come he didn't make an impact against a struggling league one team. I'm not defending the other players but Rene had to make changes, Hugo didn't impress so he came off. Crying on the sideline was absolutely pathetic.
For sure. But it was still a daft substitution. With no alterative striker on the bench "they" should have taken off Kasami, who was awful up till then and didn't improve, and put The Tank up beside Hugo. That is The Tank's proper position and although he was one of the better ones on the night, he is not a midfielder.
Yeah, I saw that on TV watching the game live. Hugo acted like he'd given it all and was visibly upset, despairing really, at being taken off. There was a close up of Dempsey, too, visibly angry and frustrated at the way the game was going. But I ask again: why isn't this emotion, frustration and heart-ache being translated into actual on-the-field performance? Both played poorly. Dempsey made little or no effort to win ball in the opponent's half. It was as if he was waiting for some one to deliver the ball on a silver platter before he'd make any effort. I have no respect for Dempsey and I honestly hope he's left off the US WC team. Rodallega was also poor, so why bitch about?
