Good shout, but I heard you were the best in the 70's - how come Jimmy Andrews didn't sign you at the same time as Robin Friday?

Sends out a message to rest of the team as well. Given OGS was talking about the Molde keeper, he's obviously decided he's already got what he needs. Still slightly concerned we got rid of Holman. Very personal thing the keeping coach. It wasn't broke so not sure why it was fixed.

And the way he deals with crosses. <yikes>

But a brilliant shot (had to be careful with spelling there) <doh> stopper. One of the best.

He's no worse than what I've seen of De Gea and Hart in terms of crosses. De Gea tries to punch like he's broken his wrist, and Hart seems to forget he has hands.

Keeper Marshall signs on till 2018!

Brilliant bit of business, Best keeper we've had in my lifetime.[/QUOTE]

Mine as well and I've been going down since the days of Jim Eadie and Bill Irwin!

Had my doubts he'd be up to PL standard after his past mishaps and indecision in coming for the high ball but don't see a lot of that now rather point blank shots and long range efforts.

Bill Irwin and Ron Healy. Takes me back. Two international 'keepers battling it out for the No 1 shirt. One from Eire, the other N Ireland. Seem to recall Healy being the preferred option, especially under Ritchie Morgan I think.

Bill Irwin and Ron Healy? I've got very vague recollections of Graham Vearncombe.....<laugh>

Must have been when keepers wore itchy roll neck jumpers, boot studs were made of cork and they would stand in the back of the net dragging on a crafty Woodbine while play was up the other end.

First City keeper I saw was Bob Wilson <yikes>, just the one game, never saw him again.

He was followed by Fred Davies, then Frank Parsons, Jim Eadie, Bill Irwin and then Ron Healey.

Irwin is my pick from those, he made some incredible saves, especially playing in front of a generally poor defence. Some similaritires with Marshall maybe? <whistle>

On the minus side anyone on here at Oxford (must have been around 70/71) when he got beaten down the slope by a 40 yard rocket from their full back?
