It it me or should his braking swiftly have slowed him down, coupled with the fact he was going uphill. So to stop him hitting the wall...
Just seems like he was moving for an eternity.

I think he was going something like 304kph when in failed so with the sudden loss of downforce he just didn't have the braking capacity. I did wonder if the wing went under the car like Alonso in Malaysia, but we see it skidding along the track so if it did it got free pretty quick.
    (good not-getting-front-wing-stuck-under-car management)

Loss of downforce from the loss of the wing possibly combined with bits of it going under the car.

If riding the curbs are going to take out that wing, They'll need to wrap gaffer tape around Hamilton's. It'll be off more often than not. :p

No idea how true it is but apparently they damaged the wing themselves with a stress test, then used it anyway. Hamilton should sue :D

Don't be daft... He was clearly being too aggressive in his wing management. :p

Nope, I think I saw Whitmarsh doing a spot of gardening and he left his hoe on the track, which damaged Hamiltons car <ok>

If you think about it, from 300kph odd, to take the corner normally he would be down to about 140kph (i think for that one), so he woudl have had to have scrubbed another 140kph to have stopped, with only the width of the track available before would have gone off.

It did look very quick and dramatic, but as BLS said, the loss of downforce also greatly decreases the braking effort so they lad had no chance of taking the corner, even if the wing did not go underneath the car.

The result is, that the RB10 whilst aerodynamically efficient became something of a rush job. The cars when sent to Jerez are significantly completed before they are shipped, yet Auto Bild motorsport claims that the RB10 was actually assembled from scratch in the garage at Jerez in an all-nighter before the presentation. While these claims have been neither confirmed nor denied by the team, the fact that a team with such an obsessive attention to detail would botch up the mounting of a rear suspension spring, which prevented any running of note on the first day of the test, would lend some credibility to it.

What I don't get is RBR claim they switched attention to 2014 late.... But they had a far superior car from Silverstone onwards in 2013 and won the titles early. They had plenty of time.

Over the last couple of days I have been reading a fair bit about the technical details of the cars. I remember reading that all Ferrari cars are using air to water intercoolers but also that Merc are using an air to water intercooler but the other merc engined cars are not!
Also the Ferrari engined cars seem to have smallest air inlets which to a certain degree lends credence to air to water intercoolers.
So it seems like Ferrari are supplying complete power units where as Renault and Merc are maybe not supplying the 'cooling' systems.
I wonder if Ferrari have made a very smart move in supplying a cooling system to their teams instead of just stating the cooling requirements?
Anyone have any more info on this?

Maybe they felt it was best to dominate a season which they know they can profit more from, compared with a competitive season the year after. So instead of winning 4-5 races this year they went for the straight 9 last season, over a 2 season period they will win 3-4 more races than they would of focusing on the 2014 season during the 2013 season.

Maybe Dietrich was vocal to Horner and Helmut to get Webber his last win?

but at what cost? the McLaren Tag porsche wasn't the most powerful engine, kicked the **** out of the opposition though, as it was the most fuel efficient and reliable (ok, so renault not looking too reliable atm), we'll only be able to say who's got the best engine by about halfway through the season is my guess.

Good 3 min youtube clip of the Jerez test. Real chance to hear what the cars are sounding like. Not up to full chat, but I think part of that is the cars can't max themselves at Jerez as the straights aren't long enough.

I wonder whether Benson's source is "The Judge", whose comments were posted on here over a week ago? BBC: bringing you the news as it happened a week ago.

In about another 5 years there probably be 1.2 litre turbos lol why are they downgrading the engines so much. Bring back the v8s I say.
