City shaky at the back. They were getting a bit shaky against us until the Rose penalty and red card.We will never know what would have happened if we'd had 11 men and NO penalty.........
Interesting first half! Almost like City aren't up for, or not used to challenges. Maybe they've gotten so used to the opposition just rolling over, that they seem confused when actually faced with a challenge....
We never "rolled over" when we played there, we took the lead and in the end a wrongly disallowed goal cost us a point.
Not watching the game. But looking at the BBC stats it looks like Citeh are being well and truly Jose'd. Jose don't care about whether tis pretty etc when the result matters. That is the difference.
Mourinho has got this spot on. In fact, Chelsea should be more than one in front. City just look bemused and not sure how to deal with their dilemma
Chelsea have played well...they've hit the woodwork 3 times and have created other chances ... city have been woeful and their passing is terrible
Technically not. I remember Cahill was sent off for felling Lennon about 5 yards into his own half as the last man for Bolton. The red card got rescinded as from that distance it's not a goalscoring opportunity. It's a stupid rule, the "last man" rule was just fine and only needed to be applied with commonsense but the trouble was refs became uncomfortable sending players off ffor fouls high up the pitch(Rio was a repeat offender) and so the FA gave refs the leeway to avoid anything like that in the future. Anyway, big surprise that result. City were very poor and Chelsea very good.
Said the other day on here not sure what to expect, goals galore or a famous 1-0 win to chelsea as Jose is the only manager who could set them up to defeat city and keep a clean sheet and no matter how annoying Jose is, the guy is a great manager!
Also this game showed how important a holding midfielder is, Man City had Ferdandinho injured and had to play a centre back to try and protect and cover for Toure venturing forward. Chelsea drop Oscar, play two defensive minded midfielders but they are the better attacking team.
Which clearly illustrates that, ignoring for a moment playing personnel, The difference in class between Chelsea's management, and ours!..
Jose is a different class, in terms of picking a team to get a result, if you need a result he is the best manager in the world for setting up a team to "do a job". But you're right Sherwood still has alot to learn but it doesn't help that he has Ferdinand in his ear giving him dodgy advice!
