I don't mind the banter, but for me it should be done without getting too personal or abusive. Any numb-nut can curse and swear at someone they are never likely to meet, but I can't for the life of me see what purpose it serves.
So how far are you prepared to let it go???????? Don't want to start deleting everyone's comments and become a nanny state. Anyone any suggestions.
Banning swearing will help and yes I know there is a swearing filter. Be a bit more like the original 606.
I dont want to ban swearing because that to me is a slippery slope, would prefer people just to act more responible.
IM with Syd on this one. Its down to the individual. Like I said before I was driven away for a few months after viewing a thread which consisted of people calling each other "bellends" "dickheads", telling one another to **** off and then simply justifying it as banter. When I think of banter I think of wit and tongue in cheek humour, scathing perhaps, but simply swearing and making personal attacks lacks wit altogether.
You may not come onto our board, but there are alot of your fans that filter over to our board, Shameless is one off the top of my head, its a vicious circle. every board has it ppl that just wanna wind each other up. it just seems to happening alot more since the Beeb site closed and the season finished
Strange that in the few times iv'e been onto the mags board, not once have i recieved any abuse of any off them..
neither have I. To me its like visiting someone in their house, I try and be respectful and respect their rules. If I dont like them, their house or their rules then why would I visit?
We aren't really bothered if a mackem comes over to our board and they're constructive. Personally, I don't even notice whether half the people are mags or mackems. It's just not our way.
That's because guys like you and syd talk football which is what we are hear for at the end of the day. A good debate with your rival supporters is always better than yapping away about players who will probably never get near our respective clubs.
What he said, but some are just out to try and score points with pointless and deliberate, targeted comments that just get peoples backs up. I've said many times if it's good constructive banter then all are welcome (to be honest I enjoy reading chappaz points cos they're not biased one way or the other it's just straight to the point observations), but some people...... well I guess their mothers just didn't love them enough when they were children.
I totally agree i never go on their board (ok maybe once) but they are never off ours, all i am interested in is what we are doing and if i make any comments on Newcastle it is on our board not theirs. And if my opinion of a lot of them is arrogant scum i will say it but i will also admit they have a lot of good supporters
Their board ain't to bad. I don't see the problem with cross board banter. But's it's anyones choice, i like to see what's happening elsewhere.
