That was more down to Bhatia at the time mate. The Goons had fu*ked up so many times (and would have fu*ked up in that window too) that they were forced to the side by the Mittals, particularly Flabio who was told to "take a break" from the Club at that time. Speaking of which, what exactly has happened to Bhatia and the Mittals? Does Bhatia have any hands on role at the Club now Yorkie?
So it's over Dellatorre Aaron Hughes Kevin Doyle Coll Donaldson Modibo Maiga Will Keane Did anyone get close to predicting this lot ... Lets all hope we learn our lesson next year ... Jan Transfer Window ... It's a little bit **** Think i have enough time to watch another Dexter before i get back into my gimp box
As some of the other members have already stated .............. this window, we did everything opposite to the last couple. Hopefully, the results will be equally opposite to last time as well.
What a load of bollox. We've had this from you ever since Harry started. First he would go at the end of last season then during the summer, then after a few weeks into this season. It was obvious to you on each of these three occasions ... and never happened. It won't come true just because you want it to become true. He may well go in the summer, but I doubt that is the reason for loan signings now. If we do go up we'll be wanting to sign better players than have been available in this window. Buy now and you'll be screaming that we have bought a lot of players on contracts that aren't up to it and can't offload. We cannot afford to pay well over the odds for the likes of Jordan Rhodes. If we did we would be in a financial mess next year.
So his $630m personal fortune has evaporated, secretly? Did you not read his comments on FFP? Chucking money around on players is simply not sustainable, nor should it be necessary in this window to get out of this league. See what happens in the summer, when 20 players will disappear as loans and contracts end. I feel very mixed about it.. The business model for this year has been reinforced - we will spend on players who will be worth something next year and beyond, if they offer value and are available. Otherwise we will use loans/ short term contracts so we are not committed to oxygen wasters like Bloody Luke Young in future. I don't think anybody worth investing in was available to buy. If there was a failure it was last summer when we did not get in the strikers and defensive cover we needed for a 46 game season. I think this makes sense, and honestly we should not need Messi to get out of the league. But the result is a team of transients who I find it very difficult to be interested in. The players are just commodities to be used up, thrown away and promptly forgotten by all of us. Only the fact that they are wearing Hoops will make me show any fleeting interest in Aaron Hughes or Kevin Doyle. Good luck to them, do your job and bye bye. My one glimmer of hope is that Harold can get something out of Maiga that Allardyce couldn't. Of course I want us to be promoted, and have given up wanting us to do it in style. If we do go up we know exactly what to expect in the summer, I can only hope we focus on bringing in players like Austin, Philips and (in principle) Hoilett, who will be more than one season stop gaps. But in many ways it would be more interesting if we are not promoted (ok the thought of another 1+ season in this **** division makes me shudder, but TF has said that this would not be the catastrophe we all assume), we rethink our philosophy and start building a dynasty. H. Redknapp Esq would clearly not be required in these circumstances. Sorry Col. COYRs.
Good Morning All. Time for a deep breath and wait to see how our new players do in The Mighty Hoops. Jamie who? Plymouth?? Surely you're having a laugh. He came and did a job and played his part. None of the players we've signed are likely to do a Remy but they may just surprise us like Jamie did. Can't be at the game today due to a wedding so I'm expecting you lot to do your bit and sing your hearts out for the lads. COYRssssssss (I'm sure this has already been said but I'm not trawling through this long thread to find out! Apologies)
Stan...one step at a time. You cannot get a team to invest in ...in one swoop The only player we bought was Donaldson...one for the future. A good team is always a mixture...bright young things and old heads So we have Austin, Ned, Donaldson, Philips, Hoillet (hopefully Hariman and Hitchcock)....we have older heads like Barton and Ale Get us out of the division first
I agree, it does seem as though the club have learned the lessons from all those ridiculous contracts that were handed out. However, all these loanees does fly in the face of Harry's reported dislike for having too many loan players. Something doesn't quite add up for me and I wonder whether Tony and Harry are slightly at odds over this.
Didn't express myself clearly Beth. Where we are is the inevitable consequence of the last 3 years, the owners reacting the only way they can in trying to halt the madness, and the short term focus that Harold brings. I am not complaining, just reflecting. Ale, sadly, is out of contract in June. I fear that we may not see him in the Hoops again, especially if we are promoted - I recall an H comment to the effect of "He's a very good player at this level" after the injury. Personally he's my favourite R. PS I do think we will be promoted, we have the nous to grind out the wins at home and enough of them away to do it. It won't be pretty but c'est la vie.
You may well be right - TF and PB are asserting themselves with 'football people' at last, after 2 years of being taken for a ride. I know who's side I'm on. Do you think TF has the next manager in mind? If we don't go up I would expect H to resign/retire (and who could blame him) and I suppose there is a scenario where the owners restrict his transfer wishes to such an extent that he walks even if we are promoted. Be nice to have a succession plan. Anyway, best buys from last night were definitely the QPR collar and lead for Stan the dog, QPR underpants for the boy and Stan Bowles retro t-shirt for me. The club shop is having a clear out and I wandered on to the online version when the window tedium became too much. Even if the lads rugby is postponed (pitch inspection this morning, Chipping Norton claim that they are 'well drained' - find it hard to believe) the early kick off makes it impossible for me to get to LR. Enjoy the game, a win in this one will really put us on the road.
Can you show me where I said that? I cant remember either way but Id like to see the posts concerning it.
We have loaned out a few too, Mbia, Granero, Diakite, Remy, Taarabt and a bunch I've already forgotten. How long contracts do they have, and could some of them come back to play a part if (when) we go up?
Overall we now have some fresh faces to fill positions which should help the nervous and infirm sleep a little better on here It's a new dawn and a new day and so we are where we are ... Having had a good night in my gimp box I think we may have a few lads who have stuff to prove I have always believed that any war chest will be opened if we get up. I believe we will and by ten points
I'd say "You were right all along sir"........Harold could leave in the summer but the theory that tony would be skint is hard to believe. Hardly he reveals the plans about new stadium if he is havent money left. I know that all the money wont be played from tonys pocket but still.... Tony just dont footballl mercenaries to get his money like they did last season. We are perfectly capable to promote with these new players.
Are you really calling Doyle a reject. Have you seen him play? You really are clueless. You sit behind your computer, check wiki and give a poor opinion based on 'so called' facts every single time, then change it like the wind. Your opinion on HR is based on what you read on another forum. Not a clue
