Credible concerns Whoops and well put. I think Jones and Fabio are more about stopping the rot as will be Zaha, if it happens - don't understand the ongoing delay once Tuesday's game was over.

However, as far as Cornelius is concerned I suspect the transfer fee equates to what remained owing by us from the original deal. The contract pay up is the real sickener in this.

As to his ability, just remember "you can't polish a turd".

Blue reminded me with this one...I was invited to an evening with a Polish theme by a pal, only to find to my aghast his motorbike out for cleaning! What a turd! <cool>

Blue. I hadn't factored in Fabio and Zaha as neither have yet signed and I'm beginning to think that neither will. More pessimism from me I'm afraid.

Seems this is just a loan deal for Corny, wonder how much they are paying in wages for him?

They just said on SSN that it was a loan. I think that is the best option, there is no way Cornelius is as bad as his limited performances have shown. Let's not forget he's been injured for most of the season and has 0 confidence. The one sickener though is his rumoured wages of £45k a week, for a guy that is still developing.

The trouble I have with him is the fact he has shown nothing in the way of being able to play at a lower level, nevermind the PL.
Perhaps a loan out will get him going, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last we see of him.
The improvement needed from him will be tremendous based on the times he has played.
At £8 million and 45k a week we might have expected a flicker of something that says he deserves time because he will come good, I haven't seen that flicker, just a clumsy guy trying to play football with the big boys.

Good luck to him, it would certainly be to our advantage if he manages to reach his promised potential.

I've called him a **** Andy Carrol in the past but did you see how poor Carrol was in his 15 minute 'cameo' against us. He's a relatively proven performer and looked pub standard.

Now I don't rate Cornelius AT ALL, but it is also unlikely he's quite as bad as he's appeared. Like I said on the wum thread the other day, if we're paying his contract for 2 or 3 years plus we might as well keep him and either rent him out via loan, or give him a go in the Championship if we end up there.

Quite a few signings for us and our fellow strugglers in the last few days. Palace have been busy with Sunderland having signed Bridcutt.

Very true Steve
Carroll didn't seem that great, but he did put the ball through for that goal.
And that was his first game after the injury, corny was afforded the same regard.
