<quote> Although HIAG started this article for WUMmery, its underlying premise is sound. Specifically : the arrogant delusion that the Poool have a divine right to anything because of their past. You haven't won the league for 20 odd years because you are no longer any good. You have finished in the PL below a "small" club such as Spurs for the past 4 (perhaps soon to be 5) seasons for the same reasons. Whether that period will also stretch out to 20 odd yrs, time will tell. </quote> Please feel free to show us how I have "moved the goalposts" ...
You pointed out how long its been since our last title win and when it was pointed out we'd won 11 trophies since then you dissed those successes, if you want to brag about the 4 times Spurs have finished above us in 24 years what about the other 20? If they don't count then only last seasons finishing table is relevant or better still the current table, make your mind up mate.
I won a few league titles playing as Tottenham on Champ Man too. This is turning into a bit of a white wash, PMK.
"You pointed out how long its been since our last title win and when it was pointed out we'd won 11 trophies since then you dissed those successes" I have "dissed" nothing. But I have been specific. You are no longer any good in the league. So you have no divine right to be be expecting to finish above recent better PL clubs such as Spurs. If your cup wins somehow rectified this condition, great. But they don't.
"I didn't used to mind Spurs fans" Be honest, we weren't consistently better than you in the league then, were we.
Let's face it, neither one of us has the spending power to keep up with City or Chavski. So far Mansour has spent £1bln on City, and that's just pocket money to these guys!....
Unless a club wins the league they aren't "any good" they are better than those below them but not as good as the Champions. So as things stand we are currently better than Spurs but not as good as the club in the top spot, of course that could all change. As for your accusations and delusion, I have never said we have a divine right to finish above Spurs(or any club), you appear to believe the myth's about Liverpool supporters making bold statements along the lines of " this year is our year" etc. The bottom line is we are on the up, we're enjoying our season, and given that we could have ended up winning jack **** since our last title we've had many joyous occasions to make the pain easier to bare, it seems us not winning it worries you more than me.
"So far Mansour has spent £1bln on City, and that's just pocket money to these guys!" And if the alleged "10 year plan" that some Citeh supporters claim exists, comes to pass, then you cannot even use the money taunt at them.
It irritates me the way the likes of City find a way around financial fair play. How are we supposed to compete with them? Its insane how they operate. I operate on around 3-6% profit on average sometimes up to around 10. This lot, and most top clubs it has to be said, operate on a loss. I just cannot get my head around how this could ever be deemed acceptable.
"you appear to believe the myth's about Liverpool supporters making bold statements" As I said, no myths on all corners of Poool 606. I am commenting on what I have read, not what I believe. "it seems us not winning it worries you more than me" This doesn't make sense. Please feel free to clarify this statement.
"I just cannot get my head around how this could ever be deemed acceptable." They can argue that the massive initial up-front investment has been made for the long-term vision. That Chelsky have utterly failed to get remotely close to repaying the money oligarsky has pumped in to date, does not mean Citeh will not (hence my comment on "ten year plans" etc) .
City are an oil state owned team. O.k there is all the charade of Emirates air, etc. but we all know that in a dictatorship there is only one owner of everything.
Yeah fair points. There are days when I get really annoyed and think of letting go of football because its so far from what most of us live and so wildly out of control. But what the hell would we all talk about?!
Just for you, I know exactly how good/bad we've been since 89-90 in the league, I have since 90-91 dealt with it, I am disappointed to have not been better in the league but can look back at those years without tears and I've had some great days/weekends/nights watching us win silverware to make up for the disappointment, I don't think of the years we haven't been league champions but look forward to maybe one day achieving it again. You on the other hand bang on about it like its an achievement to Spurs and appear extremely bitter, if you weren't you'd agree that being European Champions when your not domestic champions is very commendable.
