Are most of you having a laugh?? Johnson has been one of the best performers in the team since he came back in!! He shows spirit fight and never stops running. He did what every body does if someone plants their head in your face you move away !

Oh yeah when someone puts their face near mine I tend to throw my head away like that. He has form for it.

Showing spirt is fine but frankly he's not a good enough footballer. What he does he does well but he's so limited in his technical abilities that we get overrun in the middle.
He's a championship player who tries hard, for me Tettey and Howson are both far better footballers. I hope Johnson goes in the summer.

You must be watching a different player than me then and expect different things from the type of player he is! He is in the team to break up play in the middle of the pitch, howson is creative midfielder. Two completely different types of players and tetty is a mixture of both but less creative than howson.

Could you kindly hand your City shirt to the nearest steward, we don't agree with their kind around these parts !

I don't think Johnson is a Championship player, I bet there is a few near the bottom who would like him.

He is limited however, he struggles with mobility, passing and sometimes a bit on the slow side to read things.

I've been very critical of him in the past but he is adequate cover for Tettey who is generally better all round but far superior in terms of mobility .

    This.

He's the sort of player who's style is useful if you have enough of the rest to carry him. That's why I think Swansea were interested in him. As cover, he is pretty good for a bottom half side and he doesn't seem to complain much.

The one thing he does well (highlighted here) is he has a miraculous ability to avoid yellow cards despite fouling a lot.

In our current formation, two central mids, we need more that just a bruising DM with spirit. I know what kind of player he is and the things he does he does do well, mostly breaking up play and he's good in the air however he's not good going forward, his movement off the ball is sloppy and his passing can border on abysmal. If your not helpful going forward you at least need to get the ball to those who will consistently. If we were playing a 5 man midfield there is more space for him although he not as good as Tettey, In a 4-4-2 he's useless.
Being our hardest working player is not our best, last night he was utterly ineffective we genuinely looked better once he was sent off.

Not defending BJ over this, but in fact he didn't fall over at all, he just staggered away.

Did the same at QPR, despite all the accusations made that he fell to the floor.

Just saying to keep things in perspective.

Newcastle have decided that they WILL now contest Remy's red card

I'm a bit surprised, especially given that Pardew acknowledged it merited a red and most people seem to agree that if you headbutt, no matter how gentle, it's a red. I imagine it will be based on something in the ref's report.

Bradley's red card overturned. I'm actually disappointed, hope Hughton plays Tettey anyway.

I still think it's good news, if perhaps a little undeserved. Remy's has been upheld? I'm just hoping it means we can play 4-5-1 at the weekend, or if not we'll at least have a defensive midfielder on the bench.

I prefer Tettey playing, but Johnson has done a good job in the absence of Tettey. If he hadn't scored that goal against Palace they would be ahead of us in the table. Good news that the red card appeal has been upheld, but I still hope to see Tettey at Cardiff.

Johnson's overturned and Remy's upheld <laugh>, which is exactly what we said would happen! It's also a shame because it means that Johnson should have played the last 15 mins or so and we would have had a man advantage (though, admittedly, it would have been a man who couldn't pass)

All those Newcastle fans going ballistic...
