I think it's difficult to judge whether a player will be good in the PL on the amount of goals they've scored in another league. You're better off looking at the player's strengths and weaknesses. Ruiz is lightweight and needs time on the ball, isn't an out and out striker. Mitroglou is fast, strong, tall and a decent finisher. That sounds a lot more like a Premier League player to me. Only time will tell of course but I'm optimistic.

As of today, we are 4/5 favourites to be relegated. That means the bookies believe every other team will finish above us in the league!

On the flip side we must be decent odds to stay up if you fancy a punt on that. I've had a look at the relegation odds a couple of times over the season and they change fairly dramatically after every game week. Take little notice.

We have seen worse predictions... either we like it or not it is very likely unelss we field a team of 11 that want to be at Fulham and want to play football!

What worries me is the goal difference more than anything. Still time to sort it out but we need a couple of wins with big margins! Can't see it happening.

Don't forget he has scored at international level too. I don't think he's a lightweight. Hope he pulls the shirt on and wears with pride. Having said that, he's not signed. Knowing our luck we'll spot a tennis elbow problem and send him back!

Brilliant, no breaking of the habit of a lifetime and slating a player before he's even signed, let alone kick a ball for us! Bravo! I suppose you watch him every week, don't you!

Did you notice Greece are in the World Cup? Many put that down to Mitroglou. You could say the same for Olympiakos being in the knock out stages of the CL. Did you know Liverpool were after him too? 21 in 23 for club and country.

Read my post how was I slating him?????
I was just explaining why some people on here are less than blown away by him. If he was coming from Italy, Spain or Germany then people would be more excited… but he’s not so some people aren’t.
Just a point of view…. It may be different to yours and you seem to find that hard to process…

Possibly because he's only 25. He has actually played over 200 games and that's not a bad amount.

I know we're not used to signing players under the age of 30.

Because you ratified DR's comment by saying he's played in the Greek league for 6 seasons, glossing over the other things he's done.

The only thing I find hard to process is passing a judgement on a player who hasn't even pulled the shirt on. It obviously doesn't stop some of us, but it doesn't stop it being close-minded. I'm not saying he's going to be the next Ronaldo, but I'll at least wait until I see him play until I criticise.

You never know, if you wish hard enough he'll be **** and you can have another field day. Remember how much he Kostas (see what I did there?), you can use that as a stick to beat him with as well!

Mitroglou is not the typical greek footballer. He grew up in Germany and that's where he learnt his football.

The guy has scored from nothing for Greece and he has been a revelation for the national team and Olympiakos the last 2 years.

He has other greek habits which can been seen at Kara...

Patience. I give him two games before I get on his case... :emoticon-0102-bigsm

After all with Ruiz gone, Taarabt almost out and Berba potentially leaving there will be nobody to pick on!!! Give me a break!

Hmmm I smell the blood of Rene!!

Easy big guy, Big Phil is still here! Unless he fancies going back to Milan.

All I said is he had a good goal scoring record in a poor league... Try reading what I wrote!

Did I say I wanted him to fail? Did I question how much we're paying for him? Did I criticise him in any way?

Try reading what has been written on the forum not what you hoped people had typed!

Why not pull your head out of your arse at the same time...

That's right, resort to ad hominem! I read what you wrote, no amount of backtracking will make any difference.

    Chill out, matey.
