The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of William Kvist on loan until the end of the season. Kvist arrives from German outfit VfB Stuttgart, and Fulham have an option to make the transfer permanent in the summer. A central midfielder by trade, the 28-year-old began his career in his native Denmark with FC Copenhagen, where he featured in the UEFA Champions League alongside Brede Hangeland. After six years with Copenhagen, he moved to Stuttgart in the summer of 2011 where he once again tasted European football, this time in the Europa League. Kvist has more than 40 caps for his national side and was part of the Denmark squad at both the 2010 World Cup and 2012 European Championships. http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2014/january/30/kvist-arrives
I don't know much about him but from what I gather he is a defensive minded midfielder so maybe he'll slot into the 3 or replace Sidwell with another midfielder joining. It's a start at least.
"Now, who's going to be the first to slate him? " I hear he had a nightmare getting off the plane, so is obviously less than useless and should be dropped from immediate effect, I read some item about him last night, a very focused player who has his own personnel trainers etc. to add to his training. Also reads books rather than playing on an X box. A fine start indeed!
I'd love to see a midfield of Dejagah - Parker - Holtby - Kvist - Kaca with the likes of Sidwell, Kara, Kasami, Christensen & David as back up.
Not my first choice but Ozil declined our offer of free fish and chips every Friday, 2 for 1 cinema tickets on Orange Wednesday and a £10 win bonus per game! Looks a classy CM.
And with an option to buy in the summer, we still get to decide whether to stick or Kvist. I'm sorry. I'll get my coat.
I'm not slating the player, but if we don't bring in a passing midfielder before deadline day then I would question the logic of this, unless we move on one of the other DM's in our squad. Kvist takes us up to 3 DM's (I'd class Sidwell as one too but he's been all over the place and getting goals, his passing isn't of the standard we need for a creative mid though so I'll go for box-to-box / discipline of a puppy) along with Karagounis as our central options. Judging by the blurb below, which is a bit unfair, we're getting a similar player to Boateng, hopefully better (although I thought Boateng did well for us when he played). No goals or assists is a decent indication of the type of player Kvist will be. I presume he'll come in alongside Parker and both will sit, maybe allowing us to play Kasami in the AM role. I don't know that solves our creativity problem but we will see what happens. He's got my support and hopefully will slot into the team and make an impact. http://www.fanatix.com/news/fulham-done-deal-cottagers-sign-william-kvist/180012/ Kvist will add steal and bite to Fulham’s midfield with his combative, battling presence in front of the back four. The Danish midfielder, who has won over 40 international caps, has been in and out of the Stuttgart side this season, making 11 starts without registering a goal or an assist. The player is known for his extraordinary long throws, so it looks as though the Premier League has another Rory Delap on its hands!
silkship - I assume that will pivot on whether we can ship out Taarabt and get Holtby instead. I like the fact this is a loan with an option to buy. It means there is a vested interest for the player in helping us stay up, as they will then get to stay in the Premier League with us next season. No more nonsense like the Emanuelson loan (who never had any interest in staying with us).
We've waited 30 days for a signing, hang on for another day and we'll see where we are. Just because Kvist is the first announced, doesn't mean he'll be the only one in.
Won't get on with Matt Briggs!! No, sounds exactly what we need in the middle. Just requires Rene to go back to basics and 4-3-3.
