Todays Daily Mail reported that Alan Shearer had the Cardiff job, so this is probably nonsense as well <ok>

In the same article it said the new manager would be given a £20 million "War Chest" for transfers..........a few questions

1/ Do you think this might just be true?

2/ Would you spend £4 million on Bellamy?

3/ Would you go for 4 or 5 "quality" signings, or 9 or 10 "average" players to build up a squad?

I just hope our new manager has this problem and whoever he is he makes the right decision <ok>

    1) No.

    2) Yes.

    3) Quality over quantity. Squad players can be brought here on a free, the calibre of player needed to get us promoted cannot.

You think the malaysians would spend 20m on a transfer/wage budget and not pay off the clubs debt? We can all dream I suppose <wizard>

    1. Hope so!

    2. Definitely. Though I believe the £4M is the fee demanded by ManCity, obviously need to consider wages as well.

    3. Quality - then promote some of the promising youngsters to squad status.

The Malaysians won't get a good enough manager if they don't.

I'd rather have a manager and service the debt over the coming season.

Sonds like gambling, something I understood the Malaysians would never do.. A profit for a calculated risk perhaps, but £20m invested for a £90m jackpot, and a chance in 24 to make it. Perhaps my pessimistic ways are getting ahead of me;)

I thought the issue with paying off the debt was more that they are having people look into how much there actually is to pay off, rather than just taking Hammam's word for it? They don't want to pay off the £24m or whatever figure Hammam says he's owed - they want someone impartial to go through the paperwork and look at it themselves.

    Exactly.

Forensic accountants have looked at our books and have told them not to pay a penny until Hamman can get a court order forcing them to, something which they obviously believe he has very little chance of doing.

Clutching at straws early this year Proph! Luke if what you say is true why are cardiff city paying a huge interest to sam? The debt is 30mil not 20 also. Saying its smaller and doesnt matter doesnt make it go away! Better off reconsolidating when your relegated to Div 1 and having another go. Isnt it true that what the malaysians hve stumped up so far is a loan?

If Cardiff City get promoted the 90m would be small beer compaired to the money they would make in the Far East. There are 3 chances to get promoted and with say 8 teams with a fair chance 8 with an outside chance and 8 with no chance. I think we can get into the top 8 so them you have 3 chances in 8 the odds are not so bad then.

We're not. Sam is trying to claim it, but our forensic accountants have told the board that legally, he doesn't have a leg to stand on. So Sam adds it upo himself and increases our "debt" to him, when it is in fact most probably in the region of a few million, nowhere near the 30 million you have plucked from thin air.

Whilst we're on "home truths", isn't it true that you can't afford to strengthen your squad or expand your stadium because all your PL money has to pay the backdated rent?

We don't pay rent unless we exceed 16000 per game, though it's pretty safe to say we'll start paying this season, it was an agreement with Swansea city council, that no rent was payable unless we exceeded 16000, but nice try Luck dear!..............

And YOU know the level of debt do you?................And YOU know the payment details do you?............you should approach either the Malaysians or Sam Hamman with your PROOF I'm sure the Malaysians would reward you, after all look at all the money you'd save them paying to very expensive accountants and barristers. Or approach Hamman I'm sure he'd be suitably grateful, after all with your PROOF he stands to pick up £30 million ......................you are definitely missing a trick here, you might even make enough to clear Swansea's rent arrears...........now is your chance to do something positive for your club and your city, get in there, you will become a legend at the Liberty........................You never know you might even get your name in the Evening Post.........the Freedom of the City perhaps, the sky's the limit for such a well informed chap as yourself...............you might even get elected as an MP for Swansea.........then with your connections and obvious financial acumen, well you should make Chancellor at least. Once you are in place you can solve the UK's financial problems, then they will doubtless appoint you as head of the IMF, which would give you a seat on the board of the World Bank...........then you can sort out the Third Worlds debts, which would help bring an end to famine and hardship.........you can carve your niche in history, and go down as the saviour of the world. All you have to do is get yourself down to the CCS with your PROOF and they would raise statues to you all over the world.............this is your shot at immortality go for it <ok>

On the other hand you might just be talking through your arse <doh>

Funny how the reason has changed for you not paying your rent, last season you were witholding the rent because you weren't happy with the flooring in the stadium <doh>

“The stadium was leased to SSMC under a 50-year lease dated April 22 2005. The basis of the lease is that rent will be payable at 30% of any distribution of profits from SSMC, plus a peppercorn.

“To date, no surplus has been declared and therefore the council has received no rent on the property. In fact losses had been reported. Under the contractual arrangements, SSMC is currently indemnified against future losses by the clubs.”

However, the report goes on: “To date the clubs have made no financial contribution against this indemnity.”

In other words Swansea City & the Ospreys are not filling their part of the bargain, there is no mention of the need for 16,000.

    Phill,

Just as a extra from my last post... Dragons Eye (BBC) reported that there is some disquiet in the council and there may be talk of the lease being made null and void because of the Jacks & Ospreys not keeping their part of the bargain, if this happens the council will have a large bill for maintenance and will either have to charge a large rent or close the stadium to cut council losses.

When it comes to debt , I love the way Prophet likes to tryt to compare our " Molehills " to their " Mountains " . It really is amusing .
