Well, it's the first time we've come from behind to win. Hard grafting win, and Bony is a bargain at 12m, man's a beast.
The team cant just do anything right in some peoples eyes. We win and its only Birmingham big deal. We lose and its exactly what is to be expected cos we are ****. Thank f**k the players and manager dont read half the ****e written on here otherwise they would just give up now. We did what a lot of people have been crying out for and showed some grit and determination to come from behind and win the game. All I have been reading lately is how we we need to win to build confidence and get that winning feeling to kick on. Well guess what that is just what we have done. I agree we should normally be beating teams like Birmingham but, on current form this was a job well done. With some players on the verge of coming back this is just what the doctor ordered and we should be able to kick on from here. So lets get some positivity on this board and start believing again.
That was close and it's a win at least...If yeovil can beat them on their own pitch then it would have been embarrassing not for us to do the same....As usual we leave our only player who is scoring on the bench at the start (he does it far to much) and a poor brum side ran riot and if they had managed to get that second goal which they came very close to doing it would be good night Vienna. I just cant fathom this guy out at all, He was forced to bring our top scorer on in the end as we were going nowhere...I cant see us gaining much if any confidence at struggling to beat a lower league team like brum, we needed to play a lot better with bony at the start and maybe we could have got a lot more goals that went begging....5/10 for the narrow win....Must do better if we want to beat fulham..
Hang on if Birmingham are so **** then the team ML put out should have been good enough (seeing as Yeovil can beat them on their own turf). So ML keeps our main striker on the bench until he really has to use him. If ML played him from the beginning I bet people would have been slagging him for risking Bony when we have no real cover if he got injured. What was it Abe Licoln said “You can please some of the people some of the time all of the people some of the time some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time.” Guess he never met some people on here otherwise he would have said " You just cant please some people........ever"
it dont work like that bapp. We needed a good performance today to boost the players confidence and all we got was a narrow win that we had to bring on our best player to do that....Brum were the ideal side to do that against because of their poor form and it don't do the players much good when they were looking the better side in the first half....what confidence can they gain from that...
Here's who's left: (apart from us) Premier League Arsenal Liverpool Cardiff Manchester City Southampton Hull Sunderland Everton Fulham (or Sheffield United) Chelsea or Stoke Championship Nottingham Forest (or Preston) Brighton Sheffield Wednesday Wigan Charlton Division 1 Preston (or Forest) Sheffield United (or Fulham) A home-tie against Charlton or Sheffield Wednesday seems quite appealing at the moment.
On the contrary it does work like that Dai. When your not winning a win is a win. If we had won that game comfortably 4-0 with majority of possession scoring for fun it would have felt like a practice match and it would have been put down to poor opposition that didnt test us. We would have gone into the next game with nothing we didnt already know. However when you win ugly and have to dig deep, whatever the oppositon, it breeds a stronger team ethos, a backs against the wall type of attitude if you will. Strength of character has been lacking in some quarters prior to today with some fans calling for more of a do or die attitude. Well they did that today. Some might even say that it took a halftime talk by our manager and a couple of substitutions to get that turn around of attitude. But then again that was probably done by Curtis
(in response to Mikra) ....well, 5 probably. Bony has now scored 16 goals this season in 30 appearances. Premier League 7, FA Cup 3, League Cup 1, Europa League 5. I'm pleased to say he's proved me completely wrong as I wasn't convinced of him at the start of the season at all http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=55236
Id like to see us play Sunderland at home in the next round, Ki persisson to play up against JDG and see who comes out on top, its the only way to sort out the argument !! Great performance by our lot second half, nothing wrong with a bit of digging in, the defence will be the reason we stay up or get relegated though, at the moment we look like one of the easiest teams in the prem league to score against, thats got to change. Iffy at the back again today, hopefully it will focus minds before tuesday . Bony is a player ive backed to the hilt from day 1 and now people can see why, now that players are actually passing him the ball he can get on with banging them in , when michu comes back he will need to take a back seat to wilf, who i feel is now rightfully number 1 at the swans , let michu learn to play with wilf not the other way around please
