Big supporter of Gunnar in the past, but he's lost the plot this season. Ledley and him have about the same pace, in other words none.
Of our other midfielders, I've never been a fan of Cowie. A hard grafter, but just find him so anonymous on the pitch at this level.
I'd prefer Ledley to both (just), but otherwise when you look at the options we have now in midfield with Eikrem and Daehli joining us adding to Mutch, Kim, Medel, Whitts, Noone, Bellamy and maybe Zaha, I doubt very much that that Ledley would be a priority.
If we need to balance the books then like Hilts says, getting rid of a couple like Gunnar and Cowie to cover his wages could be an option, but as for him walking into the side, I doubt it.
Would prefer someone with more pace and aggression like young Colback or Bridcutt as an option to bring some bite into midfield. Both still young and unproven at this level and could step up. With Ledley, you know what you're getting, and that's not any great improvement on what we've got.
