These figures are misleading. They relate to a period when Utd went out of the CL at the group stage, yet, despite that, Utd announced record profits and income has continued to rise at a healthy rate. The figures don't look so good by comparison because Real Madrid and Barcelona have such a favourable position with their TV revenues and Bayern Munich have had a boon period where they reached two CL finals. A separate issue is that £150M has been wiped off the share price since Moyes took over, but that represents lack of confidence by investors and is really only of relevance to the owners if they wanted to sell the club. Of course, if the team continues to underperform revenues will eventually decline, but that's not the position yet - and it will be a long time before the brand becomes less appealing. People still buy Liverpool shirts and they haven't won the title for 23 years!
I cannot see Mata making United a better team. Until they get rid of Moyes, United will remain a mid table club.
He should now be called Atsu2. They should bring in a rule that if you buy someone for £5m+ and he plays less than 10 games for the actual club (rather than being loaned out again) then he can move for free after a year or 2. Chelsea have found a good way round FFFP here.
Man Utd have had a pretty bad week: * Lower title odds than Spurs for the first time in Premier League history * Dropped out of the top three richest clubs on the Deloitte and Touche list for the first time ever * Moron has decided they are no longer rivals * Cannot beat Sunderland over two legs in the COC semis * They can't even round up five players who can take penalties
Is that the Basle player whom 'Pool had been in negotiations for, these past 12 months? I heard on Talk5hite that 'Pool were just about to put pen to paper, when Chavs stepped in a took the player off them. Still not quite the big club that Mousers think they are!
Didn't we do 'Pool with Vertonghen, Dembele, and Dempsey? That's bad, by any standard, for them. Soon, even United will be able to do them. Yes, I really do think things could get that bad!
Salah's a very good player, from what I've seen of him. Useful impact sub and squad member for Chelsea, unfortunately. The Scousers will be fuming again, I imagine.
Read an article on Salah late last year which suggested he had been fairly hopeless in domestic games but impressive in the champions league. Looked quality when I saw him but I also remember Gomes looking world class for PSV! Hopefully he's one of these players that turn crap when they get a big move and Jose doesn't always get it right, he's loaned out Lakaku and De Bruyne never worked.
When a company in Florida claiming to be able to foretell the future in TV ads was indicted for fraud, the prosecutor who brought the charges said, "They should have seen this coming."
In our current squad, we did... Liverpool for Eriksen, Sigurdsson and Dempsey Man Utd for Dembele and Fryers Everton for Walker and Naughton
Thanks for the clarification. That certainly demonstrates the pecking order of these clubs relative to ours in the minds of players. I'm sure Mata would much more preferred to play for Spurs than United, if only we had a place for him, but we're already well catered for in that area.
Who pays for him?Chelsea or the oil man? If it's the oil man,is he getting a tax rebate,I wonder/ Who does the oil man pay taxes to?GB or Russia,or both?
