It may not be the point you were making but it is something your lot must be thinking about? Nolan and Barton (and it pains me to remember) were maginificant, especially at your place but also at ours. They dominated the midfield and we couldnt get a hold on the game after 15 minutes.

Looks like we are targetting more experienced EPL performers just at a time youre looking to off load yours? They will be hard acts to follow?

Of course it's something to think about, we'd be daft not too. Nolan and Barton are undoubtedly the two most senior members of the squad in terms of the dressing room. And you're right, they've bossed midfields this season. Not just Sunderland, but even teams like Arsenal found it difficult to play in the middle of the park against us.

It's risky business replacing proven Premier League players with relatively unknown players (to people who don't follow other European leagues), but atleast it's something the management have two and a half months to think about. Our "reported" targets may change completely, who knows. Most of them probably aren't even targets at all.

I actually think Nolan would have struggled to get in their side next season. How do you bench your captain? Pretty good move in my opinion.

Joey Barton has stuck the boot into Newcastle following the announcement that the club captain Kevin Nolan is on his way to West Ham.

The feisty midfielder formed a formidable partnership with Nolan on Tyneside and has reacted angrily to the news that his team-mate is having a medical at Upton Park.

Taking to the social networking site Twitter, Barton also suggested that Nolan was not going to be the last man out the door at St James' Park.

Hammer time: Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan is set to undergo a medical at West Ham
He wrote: 'Just on my way to Ascot, feel sick. #whatgoinonatthetoonffs [What's going on at the Toon, for ***** sake]'.

The former Manchester City man then followed that Tweet direct refernce to Nolan, calling him a 'great player, leader, captain, person, trainer and mostly a friend for life. Devastated to see him SOLD! #mejoseandjonasnext [Me, Jose (Enrique) and Jonas (Gutierrez) next]'.

Barton himself has been the subject of much speculation already this summer after his agent, Willie McKay, revealed this week that his client would not be offered a new deal at Newcastle.

The Liverpudlian claims he wants to stay at the club, but a number of offers, including one from Everton, are expected.

Newcastle selling Nolan, are they mad !, Bruce shpuld get in quick and sign him, and while he is there get guitarez.

I'd sooner have Bruce get a Guitar than Guitierez (I think he is dreadful) but I'd have Nolan, Barton and Enrique?

Wouldnt that be a kick in the teeth for the chums up the road?

Ha! Ha!

Think nolan said the dance was a piss take of one of his mates. apparently that was the only dance he could do whether a wedding, clubbing or whatever.

Still pleased the tw*ts gone

Ha ha, we will have Cabaye and Ben Arfa to bully your lot next year instead

Nolan was a bit of a t##t and I know this is the most sporting thing to do and is just a bit nasty but the best thing to test these two out is to clatter into them early, particularly ben arfa.
