One positive must be that Salah can't be worse than Moses - Well I hope not anyway, otherwise we are in **** streak.

I may have been a bit harsh before, and I'm prepared to give the lad my support. I just have a niggling feeling it won't work out.

That range of buy has been hit and miss so don't feel bad if you are skeptical. Sturridge Coutinho good, Illori and Alberto jury is still out, Borini, Aspas, Moses in that range, Cissokho in that range, hmmmm tough.

If we really don't get the CM though, it will be just like when we were in 5th and a point or three points off fourth and Lucas went down and we thought Spearing and Adam could handle it. ****ing right!!!

Btw, I am starting to see rumors on Nigel De Jong? Thoughts? Depends on price? Good enough or at least a stop gap for M'Vila/Fernando in the summer?

We keep buying these wide forwards and they keep failing, add to that most of them are still at the club. We should either sell the useless ones or make them work without having to buy more.

Fact is there are glaring problems else where on the pitch, why aren't we looking to solve them?

De Jong was not good enough for City, he is now older and slower. Not convinced.

One of those I think could do a decent job but would be a stop gap and more of a panic buy. Even with that being said, I think Seedorf is trying to keep the current Milan team together and add to it.

In the summer we were all saying we need a wide forward in order to allow Coutinho to move into the middle.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a high priority at the moment but it is certainly a position that needs a specialist player in. I haven't seen a lot of Salah, but he has loads of pace something we don't have apart from Sterling, but he seems a lot more direct and able to run with the ball at speed and take on a player.

Has a decent goal scoring record for Egypt (I know not the best standard) but shows he is capable of scoring goals as well. You don't get an awful lot for £10m these days so think it is decent value for money. He's young as well (only 21) so has plenty of good years ahead of him.

How old is De Jong? Has always been a solid player, sometimes you need a solid no nonsense player to allow your more creative players to flourish. It's a yes from me, look at the impact Flamini has had at Arsenal.

29 i think

If we get Salah in, I do hope the next purchase is a L/RB and CDM..
More importantly I want to get the likes of Enrique and Sahko back fit (and staying fit for the rest of the season).

Liverpool rule out move for De Jong

Liverpool have ruled out a move for AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong to cover for the absence of the injured Lucas Leiva.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has been left short of defensive midfield cover after Lucas suffered medial knee ligament damage in the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, which is set to keep him out until late March.

De Jong had emerged as a candidate to replace the injured Brazil international but sources have told ESPN that he is not a target for the Reds

Supposedly the Salah deal is practically done and could be announced in the next few days.

The club have spoken to Barca about taking a player on loan until the summer, believed to be Tello and not Mascherano or Montoya.

Thoughts? I'd be happy with Salah and Tello - really good wide players which would leave us with plenty of options for starters and off the bench. Hopefully we're still after a fullback though...and a CM
<whistle>
Seems my few days dragged on to ten, but still...

Reports that Chelsea are a Spurs and trying to Hijack Salah....?

It's his choice, go to Chelsea and more likely than not, sit on the bench (most likely get paid more.... and have a better chance of Silverware) or come to us and help us build something, not going to a go at anyone for going elsewhere, he has the right to make what he believes is the best decision for him..

Salah would be a good signing - will he add much to our attack? Nothing significant IMO considering our attack is already top class. But I suppose he gives us another option, direct, pace and versatile. As mentioned above, it allows Coutinho to play in the middle.

However, we badly need a DM and I think we will get one.

The concern is that there isn't a lot of talk on fullbacks - which is another massive priority.

A lot can happen in the next 9 days ...

Apparently a medical is booked in for Thursday/Friday, which seems plausible as we tend to announce our signings and provide great leaning pictures on Fridays.

Let's hope the wheels are in motion and too late for outside bids. <ok>

Just what Chelsea need, another attacking midfielder to add to Oscar, Hazard, Willian, Schurle, Mata <doh>

They have sold De Bruyne and possibly Mata, they need a replacement. If Salah chooses them then **** him as he clearly doesn't want to play football

Salah turned down Zenit before and says he wants to play for a team where he will get regular games. No chance of that Chelsea IMO and he would be very silly to go there instead ...
