40million is f**king ridiculous. The Mancs must be mental to pay such a sum for a player that's wanting to leave.
I would love to have him here, but not for anything close to that figure.

Do they even need him. They could do well spending such a fee on someone like Pogba or Gundogan.
But they look desperate to land a big name. Wonder if he's willing to join a sinking ship though.

The problem is that this could have a similar effect that Ozil had on Arsenal - not necessarily a player needed but good enough to get into the first team and to also get the fans and the team going again.

that the third version of a yellow kit i have seen.

hints at yellow being thought of but who knows in what format.

some hitatchi stripes now and we are away...

seriously though... our away kit should do two things;

1. make it easy for players to see each other. black is ****e.

2. sell as a "not really a football shirt look to go with jeans" for the likes of you lot (chavs the lot of you ;) ) thats why white and black are dominating our thinking

LFC= Red home, white away, yellow 3rd... by rights.

Heard quite a few Utd fans saying they would like Cabaye, would be cheaper for sure. Fee is so high because Utd are desperate and need a creative midfielder with some vision and Mata hasn't said that he wants out of Chelsea yet.

Would love Mata but wouldn't pay more than £25m and that would be at a push. I think we have more important issues before splashing that sort of money on that type of player too.

Also, Man Utd to buy Mata for £40m and sell Rooney to Real for £25m? Would you seriously trade Rooney plus £15m for Mata???

mata worth more than 25mil in fairness

If he was playing regularly and Chelsea wanted to keep him then yes. However, he is unhappy and wants out (world cup year so needs to be playing) and Chelsea/Mourinho clearly don't want him. Anyone paying £40m have been mugged.

I'd expect the Mata and Rooney fee's to be the other way around, not that anyone would pay £40m for the bitter mind <whistle>

Would every one be happy with De Jong on loan and Salah?

I like De Jong. Big strong, physical, combative defensively, and tidy on the ball to. Good experience from his title winning time at City and the World Cup Final with The Netherlands. But he can be a bit to aggressive and rash in challenges.

The more I think about it the happier I'd be with De Jong. I think we lack a batard in the middle and he'd certainly bring that to the table.

He was a very important player in Man City's title season. The following year was when they bought Garcia and let De Jong go, they didn't look the same side in the middle. Toure had a off season too mind but then, that could have been due to the lack of cover?

Could even be a good permanent deal for the right price and wage, if we can get a younger long term guy in to.

de jong... no he's an f'n donkey.

plus he's been fired out of city.. remember what he looked like in his last time with them.. the italian league is slow and the speed of the prem could blow him away.

This is from yesterday but can't recall seeing it posted:

Liverpool chase Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow as criticism grows of Simon Mignolet

Liverpool want Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow to challenge Simon Mignolet, with the Reds’ first-choice keeper coming under increasing pressure from fans after a number of recent errors.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is, according to the Mirror, monitoring Darlow as he looks to have a capable back-up to Mignolet at Anfield.

Darlow has established himself as Forest’s undisputed No.1 after coming into the team almost a year ago and Premier League rivals Spurs are also said to be keeping tabs on the promising youngster.

Mignolet, a £9million signing from Sunderland in the summer, began his career in the perfect way by saving a penalty in the 1-0 opening day victory over Stoke and looked to be a shrewd buy by Rodgers.

The Reds manager was so confident in his new recruit he allowed cult hero Pepe Reina join Napoli on loan, yet a number of errors from the Belgium international has put that decision under the spotlight and got fans questioning his ability.

In the matches against Manchester City and Chelsea over the Christmas period, Mignolet misjudged Alvaro Negredo’s weak shot, only able to palm the ball into the net, which cost Liverpool the game and he was slow to react to Samuel Eto’o's effort in the 2-1 defeat at Chelsea.

Jon Walters’ weak shot squirmed under his body last Sunday in the 5-3 win at Stoke and, on Saturday, he completely missed a cross which let Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke score at Anfield but Liverpool recovered from going two goals down to claim a point.

However, Mignolet has not been helped by some of the team’s haphazard defending and his good start to the season still gives him some breathing space.
