Yet littles made of the serial divers like Young, Janazq or Ramires why are these cheats not being hounded in the press? That's right because they don't sell papers, don't get an audience.

Strange that the Mancs screaming for a penalty when Lloris touched Young (even though Young had already crossed the ball anyway) think Guzan touching Suarez when he was in full control of the ball is not a penalty. What could possibly be the source of such a glaring discrepancy?

Just looked at a bbc motd 3 piece online and three new guests in the studio all said it wasn't a dive and was a pen. Though what everyone seems to have missed is that although Suarez right knee/leg has contact with Guzans body and foot, he may have been able to stay on his feet if his left boot wasn't stopped by Guzans right hand taking his foot. That's why it looks, and is, a genuine foul and doesn't look a dive because he had boot feet impaired.

If the keeper dives at/towards the players legs and makes even the slightest of touches and the player goes over, the player could be said to be merely 'confirming' the penalty or contact. Thought it was a pen on Luis yesterday but I'm sure had one of Villa's players had similar we'd all be mort furious. There are quite a few rules that are very sketchy but how do you deal with these situations fairly?

Agree with all of that though "how do you deal with these situations fairly" is interesting. I have long had the belief that sport is sport and is not science. The problem seems to me to be that when we get a favorable decision we are happy and move on but when on the end of a poor decision we want sport to be more like science. Managers always point to whatever incident they can when explaining a loss or a draw but get there team playing better and it probably wont be as important.

I wonder how John McEnroe would have got on nowadays at Wimbledon, he used to fire himself up over contentious decisions and now hawk eye would do away with that advantage. Sports people should have a mind that can deal with the adversity and respond positively, to me its just another test of their mentality and skill.

What razzes me off with this whole 'well his reputation precedes him' dogshit is the self-perpetuating, circular logic of it all. Every time Luis is fouled, is awarded a penalty or is downright assaulted, as he was yesterday, the cry goes up 'he dived'. When it's seen that he didn't, the press, the internet village mob, and ****s like Alan Smith say 'his reputation precedes him". So they're justified, and, in effect, Luis is an outlaw who can't be fouled.

For Christ's sake luis, did you not get the message two years ago, and as woman-beater Collymore let slip again, you're supposed to have had enough of this by now and gone abroad. or to Arsenal. Stop being so good and be hounded out, ffs. the FA are going to have to charge you with being too insolent to understand that when the English media have a witchhunt and the FA supply the fire, you're supposed to ****ing stand on the bonfire.

He's since admitted that he didn't always argue because he didn't agree with the decision. He did it to break up play when he either needed a time out himself or his opponent was getting the better of him to break up his rhythm.

Of course, a lot of Liverpool fans (myself included) saying yesterday's centre piece was a dive doesn't help with what you're saying

I prefer to point at the deliberate elbow that Suarez got for his troubles but all four referees and every pundit going seem to have completely missed / ignored. It didn't even get showed on MOTD

he played for it... Villa keeper was thick enough to clatter him.. its a pen. he still played for it and thats all the haters need. If i'd been raked, elbowed and ignored by the ref like saturday..i'd play for anything too.
