A clue, one of the buildings has an oriental feeling to it (and it's not Brisbane Road!) and the other was demolished only a few years later. Neither of them are in Central London.

One is an oriental style building. The other was part of a building earlier destroyed by fire, which was finally demolished in 1941 because it was thought possible that German bombers could be using it as a landmark. At first glance both buildings have a certain similarity to each other. Both were used by the R.A.F. as landmarks for bombing practice (using dummies - and with giant sandpits)

That's one of them Yorkie. The main building was destroyed by fire in 1936. The North Tower (one of the water towers) was used by the air force for this purpose up to it's demolition in 1941. So, only one to go. For the other one - think Chinese.

The only person I could think of who that might be is Les Simmons.

Don't know if this is unique in football or not - but Watford once played two Football League matches on the same day. When and against whom? For a bonus point, what were the scores?

This was on the Wobby website recently. It was against Luton, but I can't remember the scores. I think Watford won both games.

Just went back and checked the WO. It was Christmas Day 1940. The first game at Luton in the morning resulted in a 2-2 draw; the return match in the afternoon finished 4-1 to the visitors. I knew I remembered reading it.
