What's wrong with Wilf?

The truth behind every disagreement lies somewhere buried under a mountain of media and supporter speculation, and don't we know that at this club, but the Zaha/United wrangle appears, from the ever reliant press reports, (yeah right) to be becoming more fractious by the day.

The way I see it is this, when Odemwingie joined us, also under a similar cloud of controversy at his previous club (and before the buzzards attack, yes signed by Malky and probably a last dip into the market mistake) he hasn't exactly shone like the bright star we were expecting and banging in goals to prove his previous employers wrong. Wilf hasn't proven he is top draw in the Premiership so why take the gamble on what could possibly be a potentially disruptive influence in the dressing room? My opinion obviously.
 
he does have class and talent and with all do respect odem is getting on a bit now while zaha is just starting out therefore he will get better where odem can only get worse from here i'm sad to say but of we were to buy zaha full time i would be ecstatic because he already has a england cap and will only get more also imagine zaha, fraz and nooney in a front 3.
 
Odem has been a big disappointment for me, I really thought he would do well for us.
Zaha might be ok here at our place, no need to play the big bad guy, just need to play good football.
Sometimes it's all about the dressing room at clubs, ours seems to find a good balance amongst the players, just could work out for the two of us.

I read he was demanding a loan deal or he is putting in a transfer request.
 
I don't think we should break our necks to get him here. I know I've gone on record on here that I didn't rate him as highly as some, but putting that to one side, got this nagging doubt as to his "team ethics".

It seems to have always been about "him" since his early Palace days and not the team despite the soundbites he's made. The fact that he's being held back by Moyes from going out on loan because of injuries to others doesn't say that much for his ability - he still can't get a shout with half their front men crocked.

If he did come, I'd worry that he was coming for his own ends rather than Cardiff's. That may seem natural enough, but the desire to play for a club permanently far outweighs the transient efforts of a wannabesomewhereelse player like him.

Go for broke and sign someone who wants to come here for the future, not just quick exposure in the shop window.
 
I'll second that.

A very talented player but I think he spells team with an "I".

I wouldn't complain if he came and did a job but like Ince before him, let's get someone who sees us as a challenge, a step forward and keen to do well for the club's sake.

Not unlike Noonie maybe? <whistle>

I was never greatly impressed by Zaha, even in the Championship. I think United paid over the odds for an, admittedly talented, diving show pony - and if you've got Januzaj and Ashley Young already it's difficult (even for a club like United) to justify three constant wobbly men in the same side. He is a gamble - but he is hungry to prove himself (you would think). It could go either way, he could turn out to be our saviour (we might even get given a penalty with him in the side) - but after so many gambles on players are we in a position to take another one? Not proven at this level.
An England cap (like Jay Bothroyd then) - so what? He definitely won't be on the plane to Brazil.

Playing for City 'wood' suit Zaha down to 'a tee.' He could hopefully 'chip' in with a few goals, and not 'fade' away into obscurity at OT and be the big 'draw' he was hyped up to be by the media.

Play him off the striker and take the defending away. His run led to the goal against Bolton, his run and pass to FC hitting the post against Villa. He beat 3 men and smashed his shot straight at Mcgregor v Hull. He's been involved in lots of our most dangerous moments in recent weeks. We make less chances when we take him off.
If you ask him to work and defend you'll have issues. Get other players to do that, keep it to nil, then ask him to produce the 1 moment of quality needed to win a tight game and he might still turn out to be hugely important.
