So what is everybody idea of a banker this weekend ? I have a feeling the press are already writing their stories about Hen Knight winning the big race with SOMERSBY tomorrow Poor old Terry passed away last week (a great character) and I have a feeling it's already written in the stars and can see Somersby winning at his beloved Ascot What are your weekend bankers ? cheers Wuby
Not to be cold hearted, but someone dying should not effect your opinion on a horse race. If there is a horse in the race who deserves his day in the sun its Hidden Cyclone, that doesnt mean he will get it tho, Somersby and Sire De Grugy have had theirs.
Actually chage that. Now I've seen the prices, Melodic Rendezvous at 2/1 to beat Ptit Zig is my idea of the weekend banker. You can put a line through his Fighting Fifth run (where he pulled a muscle and was clearly well below best) and I can't believe he isn't odds-on for this
Ugly Bug-12 20 Haydock--will make all---great big horse who loves heavy ground and just steams along!
Not wishing to detract from this story but Henrietta Knight no longer trains any horses let alone the magnificent SOMERSBY
Out on the lash so unable to post a decent thread etc. but as Oddy says meadowcroft boy 2moro is a damn good thing. Melodic rendezvous is my outside champ hurdle chance so I fully expect him to win. Taquin du sieul is my jewson hope so again I expect a massive run. Katenko runs with a hefty weight so I'll be a expecting a much better performance. Will post a proper right up in the afternoon when I wake up
It seems a lot of us may be singing "what a waste of money" at about 14:10 tomorrow then. I will take all the highflyers on with a proper outsider in the race. ABRACADABRA SIVOLA needs to step up markedly but the horse will love the ground this time (25-1).
That's your weekend banker stick? Waiting for the 4:35 at meydan to be priced up for mine. Desert wings. hoping for about 7/2.
Fair enough. So Master Stickwise likes the near outsider Abracadabra Sivola. Geraghty goes to Haydock instead of Ascot to ride Stand to reason and seems quite confident. A few on the forum really like Meadowcroft Boy. A 100/1 shot no hoper. And we haven't even got to the first or second favorite!!! In a 6 horse race!!! Maybe not a race to bet in after all....
Katenko for me in the Peter Marsh at Haydock. Was running a great race in the Hennessy when he fell. Venetia Williams then turned him out very quickly afterwards and he was probably still feeling the effects of that fall. With ground he loves Im expecting Katenko to win tomorrow. I also really like the look of Somersby tomorrow but the ground is a real unknown....Mick Channon is now the trainer of course, but Henrietta Knight is still involved and assisting the trainer. If he wins I can indeed see a winning tribute piece to Terry Biddlecombe. Somersby goes extremely well at Ascot.
Only if THE NEW ONE, MY TENT OR YOURS and HURRICANE THINGY don't turn up odddy! Or it comes up very soft!
Realistically yep. I thought he was too big at 50/1 a week ago so he would have been a nice back to lay. But if it is juicy on the Tuesday he might nab a place if one of the top 3 doesn't perform
