We talk about Wingers and Strikers, players who can play along the three behind or even help cover up top. Jose Callejon would have been awesome and not that expensive. He is a livewire, crafty with his footwork and movement, and pitches in with goals.

Barcelona midfielder (33) Xavi has accepted an offer from American team New York Red Bulls to join them after the World Cup. [sky] :emoticon-0108-speec

Side note: They say Red Bulls but that could be wrong as it is reported here as the new expansion team New York City FC ( Run by the same men who own City) are the ones after him.

    M'Vila/Fernando would displace Lucas instantly.

Any right back would displace Johnson - even if all they can do is pass to a teammate. (Montoya)

Same applies to left back. (Alberto Moreno)

There have been a lot of talk on DM's and an attacker, but we seemed to have littler interest in full backs at the moment other than Montoya which has cooled down.

Gerrard would be replaced as well. I don't think Rodgers wants a system which includes a 'Pirlo' type player with runners doing the donkey work. I think he wants everyone to be mobile and hard working.

Liverpool transfer speculation today sees Reds boss Brendan Rodgers reportedly targeting Ajax winger Ricardo Kishna.

The 19-year-old is in the middle of contract negotiations with the Amsterdam club as he looks to extend a deal that runs out at the end of the season.

But Rodgers is aware the talented wideman would be available for a minimal compensation package if signed by a Premier League club.

Liverpool are also reportedly interested in highly rated Schalke winger Jefferson Farfan.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has taken a keen interest in the 29 year old Peruvian and is willing to make an offer of £11m of the wide-man though his Bundesliga employers are looking for a fee nearer £15m.

Long-time Liverpool target Carlos Zambrano has turned down a new deal at Eintracht Frankfurt.

The centre-back has been watched by Reds scouts for over a year, and has refused to extend his stay at the Bundesliga strugglers beyond the summer and will be available on a Bosman deal in July.

Meanwhile, agent for Liverpool target, Everton Riberio has revealed Cruzeiro have rejected an £8.3million bid from a Premier League side.

Finally, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has rubbished reports that Liverpool have have made an offer to sign him from Italian side Udinese as Reds target Javier Pastore has dismissed the prospect of a January move away from Paris Saint-Germain.

    Rumour One

Liverpool and Manchester City have been offered Ajax winger Ricardo Kishna.

The 19-year-old is in the middle of contract negotiations with the Amsterdam club as he looks to extend a deal that runs out at the end of the season.

But the talented wideman would be available for a minimal compensation package if signed by a Premier League club, and with only a few months remaining on his deal there is no barrier to talks with the likes of the Blues or the Anfield giants.

    Rumour Two

Liverpool will look to push on with efforts to sign highly rated Schalke winger Jefferson Farfan.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has taken a keen interest in the 29 year old Peruvian and is willing to make an offer of £11m of the wide-man though his Bundesliga employers are looking for a fee nearer £15m, so seemingly not a massive obstacle to progress in a potential deal to bring the former PSV Eindhoven man to Merseyside.

Interest in Farfan could well be due to Liverpool’s unwillingness to use loaned in Chelsea man Victor Moses regularly, with the Nigerian international not impressing when called upon.

Farfan is an experienced campaigner who scores regularly from his position out wide, netting 57 goals in 119 Eredivisie appearances and 36 goals in 154 Bundesliga outings with Schalke, indeed he is the club’s top scorer in domestic league action this term.

Such is his importance at Schalke it is perhaps surprising that Veltins-Arena boss Jens Keller would be open to even considering a bid for Farfan, who is tied down to a long term deal that runs until 2016.

    Rumour Three

Long-time Liverpool target Carlos Zambrano has turned down a new deal at Eintracht Frankfurt.

The centre-back has been watched by Reds scouts for over a year, and has refused to extend his stay at the Bundesliga strugglers beyond the summer.

The 24-year-old Peruvian would be available on a Bosman deal in July, but interested clubs can start negotiations with the player now.

And despite manager Armin Veh's publicly-stated desire to keep him, Zambrano has admitted it is unlikely he'll be remaining in Frankfurt next season.

"At the moment there is no reason to talk," the player said. "We'll see in July."

    Rumour Four

The agent for Liverpool target, Everton Riberio has revealed Cruzeiro have rejected an £8.3million bid from a Premier League side.

The Brazillian playmaker, 24, has been linked with a number of Premier League sides - most notably Manchester United who are desperate to recruit an attacking midfielder - as well as Liverpool.

And it now seems that one Premier League club has taken the next step in bringing the talented youngster to England.

The player's agent, Robson Ferreira said: "We did bring a 10million euro [£8.3m] offer to Cruzeiro for Everton Ribeiro but we won't reveal the club in order not to affect the negotiations.

"We presented the offer to Cruzeiro, we talked and we will schedule another meeting within the next days."

Regardless of their initial rejection, Cruzeiro may have to resign themselves to losing their star man, who has previously hinted at a move abroad saying: "I feel I am ready to play in any part of the world."

    Rumour Five

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has rubbished reports that Liverpool have have made an offer to sign him from Italian side Udinese but the Ghana midfielder admits that he will jump at the chance of playing for the English giants.

The 23-year-old, who is regarded as one of Ghana’s tough midfielders, was rumoured in the Italian media of being one of the key players targeted by Liverpool for a swoop this month.

Some reports even suggested that Liverpool have already made an offer to sign him but the Ghanaian insists the reports are just rumours.

“I have not heard anything from my agent – at the moment it is all speculation,” he said.

“We will have to see what happens in the next two weeks because it has always been my dream to play in England.

“We played against Liverpool in the Europa League last year so I know all about them.

“They are a really good team who have been performing well this season and I would be very happy to join them.

“I’m settled in Italy but the chance to play for such a big club is something I couldn’t pass up.”

    Rumour Six

Liverpool target Javier Pastore has dismissed the prospect of a January move away from Paris Saint-Germain despite admitting that he has a close relationship with Roma's sporting director.

The 24-year-old has had a tough time in the French capital this season, managing only seven league starts, but he played a starring role in PSG's 3-1 French Cup win over Bordeaux on Tuesday, grabbing a goal and an assist to propel his side to victory.

Brendan Rodgers has been linked with the Argentina international as he looks to strengthen Liverpool's push for a top-four finish.

Roma have also been tipped to sign the playmaker, but Pastore says he will not be heading to Serie A side despite his friendship with the club's sporting director Walter Sabatini, who he knows from his time at former club Palermo.

He told the French press: "My place is here. I have a relationship with Roma's sporting director [Walter Sabatini], but that does not mean I will leave during the winter market.

"I will do everything I can play to play more and secure my place in the team."

We'd all like a bit of "concrete" info but I trust the club are doing what they can to get the right people in for the right price, we'll just have to be patient.
Been said by all of us before, we'd rather keep the money in the bank than splash it on the wrong people, we don't want to bite that 100M bullet again!
