Would much rather keep Mata than give him to United, regardless of who we got in return.

Also, pretty clear Mourinho isn't a fan of KDB, but be much more beneficial to just loan him to a PL club rather than get rid of such a promising young lad.

Depends if we need the money Drogs (FFP etc). If we need investing in other areas of the pitch, better to get decent money for our 6th choice attacking mid and spend elsewhere. In an ideal world I agree though, a loan to say Everton maybe? They are doing wonders with Lukaku.

Re Mata, would hate to see him at United but being pragmatic, our team would be better with Rooney upfront than Eto'o up front with Mata on the bench.

Yep could be, £17m return for someone who's played a handful of games for us isn't bad though is it! Healthy profit too.

I agree but no matter how well Rooney performed for us, I'd hate to see Mata doing the same for them.

Don't think it'll happen anyway. Jose isn't stupid. He'll sell Mata abroad if at all and pursue Rooney again in the summer anyway. Apparently Rooney can buy himself out of his contract in the summer to, can't see him doing it but you never know.

Odds have shortened to 1/3 today for us to sign Matic in the transfer window.

I wouldn't be at all unhappy if no one was bought or sold. Our on loan resources are unmatchable. Our current 1st team squad isn't playing at it's maximum every game. We aren't missing anyone currently injured. We have only just started playing as a team again and I would be loathed to have more than say only one new player in it.

Jose hasn't changed. We're becoming the boring boring Chelsea again. Teams set up against us not to lose. In his first spell I said he changed us to a second half team which has it's up and down sides (our early seventies side scored more goals after 60 minutes than any other). Up, we're strong to the end, down the players lose a lot of creative freedom sticking to the game plan 1st half (playing on rails).

As for a new signing? Pick one from several. A new guy gives you different options, but at Chelsea no one player is going to be allowed under Jose to do anything more than support the squad, not drive it forward.

Fans tend to see new signings as an improvement which of course just isn't always the case.

Good lord we'll look so stupid if we go through with this.

We have Mikel, Van Ginkel and Chalobah who are all perfect to rotate with each other. I'd much rather see Chalobah develop here rather than in the championship ffs! It's the other position in the middle I'm concerned about and imo we should give De Bruyne a run out there before splashing 20 odd million on a former reserve player <doh>

I'd rather have used the money to try and sign Pogba in the summer. We definitely need cover in the CM position but not convinced Matic is the right guy, IMO there's better out there for less (or as much). Witsel, Gundogan and Pogba would all have been preferable. I'm a big fan of Gundogan and he'd have fitted in perfectly here.

That said, rumour is we never wanted to sell Matic but had to or the deal for Luiz would have fallen through, it seems beyond ******ed they didn't insert a buy-back clause though. Chalobah will get his chance next season in the cup games but I think it's the end for McEachran.

I suspect Mata, Marin, Moses, Cole, McEachran, Schwarzer, Eto'o and Ba will all be gone by the summer.

I heard PSG were looking to spend 40 million on Pogba, now that is crazy money! Looks quality but still very early days with him. As for Matic, would rather buy elsewhere due to how bad it makes us look but I suppose ultimately if Jose thinks he can do a job then I'm sure he can.

Just read Matic was player of the year in Portugal. Done even better than I realised since he left. I guess he'd have never progressed that much had he stayed with us.

Inter look like they are about to sell Guarin to a 'big club' but it hasn't been confirmed it is us. Player wants to leave apparently and Inter prepared to sell to fund players in.

    Matic - Lampard

    Guarin - Essien

That's how I see it anyway. Like for like replacement. Barca, Bayern, City and Madrid were both reportedly interested in Matic so he can't be that bad. He was very impressive against us in the Europa League final, dominated our midfield and pressed well.

So De Bruyne looks like he is going then. Was to be expected but have to say I'm disappointed. However, a healthy profit on him despite him playing a handful of games for us and the money can go towards replacing him with a player we need more in Matic without losing too much money.

Probably, he is leaving Chelsea after all! Not to mention Matic being a total failure <laugh>

Chalobah looks to be joining Omeruo at Middlesbrough on loan for the rest of the season. Good move IMO. Should get more gametime than he did at Forest.
