So is the fact Liverpool are two points ahead of us in a season they have been considered title contenders and we had our manager sacked, a reflection on Liverpool being over rated or even at our worst we're still able to keep in touch and it's just a matter of time before we click into gear? By rights we shouldn't even be in touching distance of Liverpool considering their form but if we finish above them and Everton, with Avb and Sherwood as our managers and Soldado a flop signing, then that will be huge embarrassment for Merseyside considering their teams have been lauded as on the brink of something special!
Why is avb always an excuse?? He was a very good manager, your 2nd best ever if I'm not mistaken and you are at a very similar place as where you were last season.
Not an excuse. More that in a season of upheaval, getting thumped by yourself, a rookie as manager and several flop signings, we're still a mere 2 points behind you. That's why even in a season where we struggle we remain in contention but when you're at your best you can't pull away.
And don't forget they are only playing once a week which is a big help. Mind you they are only playing once a week because they are so **** and couldn't qualify for Europe.
Tottenham have emerged as 13/8 favourites to sign Steven Fletcher from Sunderland this month following confirmation of Jermain Defoe’s impending move to Toronto. They were 7/1 a matter of days ago but have received consistent backing over the weekend, with Celtic and Hull their biggest contenders at 12/1 apiece. I suppose he's an upgrade on Loldado
I made this very point a few posts back. As a neutral, you've got to be praying that 'Pool don't make even the Europa, let alone the CL, because with their shambolic defence we'll see spankings the like of which English football has never before witnessed. And all of us Englishmen will have to partake of the shame, even us non-Mousers. I'll never be able to show my face in France, Italy or Spain ever again.
It's all excuses. Isn't this pretty much your highest point tally ever at this point of the season. So by that basis you're having an excellent season grinding out results But it just seems all the Spuds are getting their excuses in early, for what usually happens. Not finishing in the top 4. We're certainly not guaranteed that spot (and have been out of it for a few years now), and whoever beats us to it, deserves it No excuse come the end of the season from me.
Actually it reflects worse on you lot for throwing a hissy fit when AVB actually kept you so close the top of the pack in a season where you have so many new signings. It's pathetic. And you will never get CL under Sherwood
Inferior to who? Liverpool? You haven't even finished above us yet! Hold off on the party hats and cake until then So fear and mild fear. You're not very good at wumming, are you?
Anyway, it's no surprise Spurs are close - you have a better squad than us by a fair margin. We have a good first XI when fit (which we haven't had all year). But beyond that, we've not got much.
Liverpool are currently the best team to watch in the PL and have been for some time. Yep, their defence isn't the best but their attack is when you take home and away form into account. As detestable as Suarez is (well, was, he seems to have turned over a new leaf) he has now reached heights higher than Bale ever did and you could even say he is better than Ronaldo was at Utd. He got kicked all over the place yesterday, one particular incident saw 3 stoke players kick him 3 feet in the air at once, and to his credit he just bounced back up and didn't bite anyone.
Was a little disappointed that MOTD didn't highlight the tactics used on a few occasions to stop our attack. Suarez was boxed in by two Stoke players and then taken out by Shawcross, for instance. Adam made a few bad tackles including a body check on Sterling.
