Baku (from 25 Jun 11)
Well I'll be in Baku, except for a few days home if I can manage it, but what I mean is where will the City be?
What do you think?
Given a new manager with money to spend, and the return of CB and Earnie, but nothing else guaranteed, where do you see us on Boxing day? 10th, 1st, Last?
What is your reasoning?

I'd like to think we'd still be in the top 6.
give us your best guess and let's see who is closest when we get there.
what you guess will also put you in the D&G camp or the KTF camp.

Top 6 for me, I think 3rd.

10th at best

Reasoning - We wont get Bellamy back IMO, and as much as I would want him I dont think earnie will come back as the Malaysians seem intent on getting rid of high earners. Every day that goes by without a new manager we are losing time to improve the squad and there is sooo much work to do, I understand we only have 14 players at the moment. Also not convinced there will be money to spend, although the Malaysians bailed us out temporarily they havent given funds for actual signings, they have paid loanees wages but no transfer fees. We need players signed who are owned by the club and not a team of loanees again.

Ace, i understand you reasoning, but almost all teams gwetting promoted to the Prem do it with a few loanees. It isn't uncommon.,
and even Prem clubs loan players to toher Prem clubs.
But 10th is over half way so not as doom and gloom as all that really are you mate? :)

We will be in a lot better place financially, hopefully rid of Sam and his cohorts forever.

On the pitch, between 7th and 10th place and the new team starting to gel.

And yes I do believe in father Christmas.

:smiley-finger007:

Will the club be in a better position financially - yes, without a doubt.
Will we have a squad as full of talent as last year - no, most certainly not.

However the Championship is a funny old league and I think if we were to punch above our weight for a few months we could see re-inforcement along the way but I am simply not as optimistic as I was at this time last year when we had the likes of Chops, Whitts, Burke and Jay in the team.

I reckon around 8th at Christmas. with Gerrard back I think the defence will be fine but will need a decent central midfield pairing to compliment Whitts (best out wide methinks)and cover across the whole midfield. Also need some decent front men as the beast needs to shed some lard and we need a minimum of another 3 front men. Do that and we should be 8th at Christmas but in easy reach of auto-spot and play-off spot.

at the moment relegation dog fight is on the cards but with a decent manager then around bottom half to mid table at best, you should be happy with that for a first season, there is no outstanding players left to ever think about a top half finish. the main job for the new manager is to keep cardiff in the championship and to build his own team in time...

Got that right.

Fixed it for you, now it actually rings true. <ok>

A day is a long time in footy, so I a confident your opinion is way off the mark. I guess the question has to be asked again when we find out who the new manager is and what sort of spending power he has. A major rebuilding of the team is needed asap.

SWANS MEAN EVERYTHING TO ME..... I HAVE BEEN MARRIED TO THE SWANS LONGER THAN MY 47 YEARS TO MY WIFE

She must have been nagging you for 47 years and addled your brain <doh>

10th - 12th seems about right. Definitely a weaker squad but hopefully a better financial structure for our long term future. Can't see us looking at playoffs until the season after. Want a manager in asap!

:emoticon-0109-kiss::emoticon-0109-kiss::emoticon-0109-kiss:well as it stands now what would you say your chances are????? top i suppose with a fa cup final as well. <doh> get real you cant even attract a manager that is willing to take you on...its like i and many even some cardiff fans know that cardiff will have a big job to even stay in the championship and will be in a relegation dog fight this season, you dont have any pulling power for top players anymore unless the Malaysians are willing to again pay stupid wages to players who re only there to get rich...chops "ipswich has more prospects than cardiff now" Betty "i need a better chance if i want to play for england" ..tells a story dont it...

I think you think more about your wife that football and you think fukc all about your wife

A slow start to the season because of the new players we'll need to get in. They'll be bedded in by October when results will pick up. 8th to 10th at Christmas and 5th to 8th at the end of the season.

I'll go with that, playoffs will do me fine.
