http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2003357/Alan-Shearer-favourite-Cardiff.html Words fail me......and that doesn't happen often
Proph I think this good be a good move, not sure what his wage demands would be, but he must have excellent contacts within the game and Newcastle were almost down when he got that job.
I'm sure they're just f**king with us. I hope they're just f**king with us. They had better be just f**king with us!!!
EIGHT WEEKS!!!!!! Thats is his total managerial experience. eight frigging weeks! He says he realsies he has to do his apprentiship. He won't do that sitting on a couch in front of a camera. He needs to go down even further and take a club up a bit. If he thinks he can come to Cardiff just to do his apprentiship then pop back to a Prem club then god help us becasue he won't!
His admittedly short time at Newcastle and appearances on MotD have not given me much belief in Shearer's abilities. I would rather see him cut his teeth at a smaller club before taking him on.
I dont think that this would be such a bad thing, good contacts as someone else has pointed out, massively respected. Bear in mind MM didnt have any experience before taking over at Watford. People are talking about young and ambitious, why not Shearer?
IF we get Shearer, then I think we can kiss goodbye to ANY chance of Craig coming back.............I'd rather have Craig on the pitch than Shearer on the bench .
This is a good point, but Roy Keane is generally unliked by everyone in the world and that showed when he went to Sunderland and Ipswich and pissed of the entire playing staff, im not so sure it would be the same with Shearer. Also with RK he did take Sunderland from a relegation position to promotion in the same season. Im not in anyway trying to imply that he's a good manager as recent failures have proven but just that you dont necessarily have to 'do your apprenticeship' at a lower league club to be sucessful higher up the leagues.
forgot about the Bellamy thing, its fair to say they dont seem to get on do they. Which isnt really that relevant as seeing as Man City are demanding £4m for him we wont be seeing him again soon.
I think at £4 Million he'd be a steal. not just for his undoubted abitlity but for his crowd pullling and his influence on other younger lower level players, particularly in the virtues of training to a high level. I don't think that's too much, we allegedly paid it for Chopra, ansd just got £1.5 mil + back. It depends on his wages!
Regardless, its money we dont have. Personally if we did have that type of money I think it would be better spent elsewhere on several different players.
This £4 million thing, has Man City said this or is it just paper talk ? I thought they were trying to cut their wage bill drastically and were trying to get players to rip up their contracts. I'd take Craig before Shearer every time.
I don't know why you say it is money we don't have Ace. The malasians undubtedly have oodles of cash and they have said there will be money available for the new manager to invest in players. now that might be £10 million, I don't know, and neither does anyone else. I do know that they are prepared to put their hands in their pockets if they think its a good bet, like paying CBs wages themselves last year to keep it off the city books. Everything they have said so far they have backed up, including saying last season (at the beginning) that promotion in may was not their priority, but stabalising the club was. They said they would wait until this year for promotion and they are still here, they haven't run away like the doom and gloomers said they would. They also know it will take money to get there but they know the riches it holds, specially in the far east, so lets see how much they are prepared to pay out.
