I would prefer Jelavic to long for several reasons.I think Jelavic is a better finisher than Long, in pure footballing ability Long is more gifted IMO.If the remarks posted on Twitter by Longs wife are genuine she obviously is the gaffer in the Long household and is dead against the move which if we were to sign him COULD leave us with a very unhappy player on our hands.

A wife with 2 young children who is miserable can make any husbands life hell, I have seen this happen on a number of occasions, it's not as simple as telling somebody to "man up".I am not saying that this would happen but is it worth the risk?.

Jelavic is absolute dog ****e. My mate, a die hard evertonian, thinks he's worse than I do.

His premier league honey moon period is over. As an apparent 'goal scorer', he does **** all. He never scores.

1 goal in his last 30 games. We don't need another misfiring striker.

He's a proper sloppy wet diarrhoea and a proper waste of money.

You are right he scored against QPR in the cup. He's still been ****ing awful for a year now, a new club might be the key but it didn't work with Graham. Unless we send DG back there's no point in having 2 well off form strikers.

We cant send Graham back. Only Sunderland can recall him.

Isn't it often the case that a player needs a new challenge and motivation?

It didn't work with Graham, but it's worked with Huddlestone, Livermore & Davies

The period of time that Jelavic went without scoring is a concern, it has to be.

I'm not saying he isn't a decent player and potentially a decent signing, but I think Long is more likely to do it often, and actually has more to his all round game.

At one point his record was 41 out of 44 goals scored with his first touch.

He knows where the onion bag is.

Martinez was on CityTalk, a Liverpool local radio station yesterday speaking specifically about Jelavic. Apparently, Jelavic wants game time in order to give him a chance of going to the world cup. Everton can't promise that. Martinez said that Jelavic would not be allowed to leave unless an adequate replacement was brought in first. He described his behaviour as "pristine during a time when he has not been playing much. I took that to mean that his attitude in training was good.

Of course, that was yesterday. Who knows what today's story will be?
