Just to take this in another direction (i.e. one that doesn't turn into a small scale civil war), some food for thought: Bassong can play at left back, and did so at Newcastle, so if it emant we could keep him at the club would any posters be happy to see him deployed at left back with the opportunity to play centre back when injuries and suspensions rear their ugly, yet limping, heads?

I've always thought that would've been the best bet at the end of last season, but 'Arry seemed to disagree.
He's quick and good enough at getting back to do it effectively, so I don't see why Rose got the nod ahead of him. Was he injured or something?

Playing Devil's Advocate here HBIC :)

Yeah, I was a fan of Seb when he was at the Toon and thought we were signing him to play @ LB, I'm surprised (but glad) he wasn't used when Benny got injured prior to Bale's rise to stardom.

That said, I think his preferred position is CB and he seems happy enough to play 2nd fiddle and take his chances when he can, knowing full well the moment Ledley's fit he'll be dropped.

The lad has a good attitude I'll give him that!

Wasn't Danny Rose griping to the press at his lack of opportunities at Spurs last season? That might explain why he got a run of games at left back - but doesn't explain why Bassong or Kranjcar didn't get a run of games at any point in the season.

Unfortunately I don't think we'll ever know why Harry doesn't pick these two more regularly. He seems to test player mentality at certain times of the season I've noticed, he'll throw a spanner in the works, i.e. dropping a player during some decent form to find out how they react. It puts a few noses out but then he does seem to get the best out of the ones who react positively. Only need look at some of the history.

Had Bassong, Kranjcar, Defoe all give a few soundbites to the media about being disgruntled as to the lack of playing time they've been afforded. Ultimately the player either proves himself or falls foul of Harry's standards in behaviour, which he can point to, thereby shipping them off at no impact to his own media image.

Hopnut - Lets look at the facts, you've been here 5 mins and argued that 'all' Spurs fans are fickle, followed by swapping wingers, followed by BAE is the worst player in the team. If you were on bbc606, you'd have been hounded out as a wum by far worse than me.

If your the thinking mans fan with that lot...get a lobotomy.

    Toodlepip!
