Hi all, I was just browsing some of the gossip pages, along with some rumours on here, and wondered what will happen in the next 2 months. I couldn't help but think that we'd sign nobodies, Kranjcar will leave and it will be likely that one of Bale or Modric will leave (if not both). Its not the end of the world if all 3 leave, but I don't want to watch a season of misfiring strikers being provided by Palacios and Jenas. So then I wondered what, realistically, I'd LIKE to happen in the next 2 months, transfer wise: IN Drogba Samba Osvaldo Badelj Neuer OUT Keane Palacios Bentley Hutton Jenas Crouch Gomes Alnwick O'Hara Bassong (reluctantly) Neuer Walker - King - Samba - BAE Lennon - Modric - Sandro - Bale VDV Drogba Subs: Friedel, Osvaldo, Badelj, Dawson, Corluka, Hudd, Pav (If/When King is injured Daws will take his place in the line-up. Gallas or Kaboul will take his place on the subs bench.) I'd be over the moon if the above would happen, but I know its all wishful thinking. What would you like to see at the end of the season - best case scenario - keeping realistic targets? (i.e. No Messi-type signings.)
I'd really like to see us sign Drogba. I think he would be the perfect front man for us to play along with VDV. Such a strong force up front, has got a fantastic touch. Can hold up the ball really well, that will allow the rest of the team to join in the attack. I just hope that we will not lose Modders for him. I think that Leandro (Sandro's ex team mate) could be a good shout. I have been watching youtube (I know any player can be made to look good on there) but the guy looks like he could do a serious job for us.
Maybe you could keep an updated list of everybody who is rumoured to sign and leave and then highlight those that are completed?
Didn't Neuer sign for Bayern Munich yesterday? Also you'd keep Kranjcar but then not even have him on the bench?
Did he? I didn't know. Yeah, quite lazy by me. I decided we had better player half way through writing the article. The main reason I'd like to keep Kranjcar though is that he can fit right into either Bale's or Modric's places if they leave. If we keep them both, theres no need for him IMO.
Well Wikipedia seems to think it was a done deal two weeks ago but I only heard that it was confirmed the otherday. To be honest, I think that now we have Friedel we can assume that he will be our number one next season anyway. Yeah, I think it's right to be frustrated by Niko's lack of oppurtunities but he's almost certainly off as soon as a good offer comes in. To answer your question, realistically I'd have In; Leandro, Klose, N'Zogbia, Marin, Parker, Tomkins and Out; Crouch, Defoe, Keane, Niko, Bentley, Wilson, O'Hara, Jenas, Bassong, Hutton, Woody, Gomes
I was considering Leandro & Klose too. I wouldn't have Parker, though. I'm not fully convinced that he's better than Sandro or Hudd.
Yeah, with the midfielders likely to leave I could only think of Parker or Diarra and I could only see Parker as likely. If I'm honest I'd rather have someone that can play in more of a Modric role but there aren't many of them, which probably explains why he's in such demand.
A year ago we said the same about VDV... Odds are, though, the player most likely to be expelled from the Mourinho Revolution will be Fernando Gago.
Thank you for your wise, well thought-out and insightful contribution. Your parents must be proud... Who?
Ignore Vela please He and Michigan have been wumming the Spurs board for longer, and a lot more, than GST ever did on the Arsenal board yet they don't get blocked from here and he did from there.
