Despite how he left I would take him back.

He is betting than anything we have and knows the crack.

Strange how his stocks seems to have fallen, you don't here much about him.

Wouldn't want to pay him more than 60k though which he would be unlikely to accept.

And no signing on fee. And he covers any agent fees.

Stupid comment!

ffs you dave, explain why its a stupid comment.

City and Chelsea have stronger squads so doubtful, but if we got one more season of Stevie of 08/09 why not, should imagine that's where he was coming from.

2-3 more seasons of ok does the job or one more of what if, know which i would prefer to see.

Salah is a risky signing. He doesn't have the greatest record in a weaker league so its probable that he'll be another Assaidi. Obviously hope I'm wrong if we do sign him.

Alonso I would love but, like with Stevie, he wouldn't suit our current style. The CMs need to be full of energy, they need to do lots of running and that was never Xabi's game. Mascherano would be a better fit in that respect. Of course, Xabi is the best passer of the ball I've seen too so he would in with the possession approach. I would be concerned if both him and Gerrard were in the same side though and I'd feel sorry for third third CM.

On the title comment, we could get both plus Javier on we still wouldn't win it. Not enough depth and options in attack.

fair comments Gerrez,

couldn't you have said that the first time round lol.

like to see Gerrard further forward but depends who is behind him i suppose.

-----------Salah------------Alonso------------

--------------------Coutniho-------------------

---Gerrard--------Studge----------Luis----

that looks tasty to me, but maybe we would be weak from a defensive point of view, who knows.

personally love to find out though.

ps Milner is **** isnt he lol

Salah is a winger <ok>

I know he's coming from a weaker league but his performances in the champions league & europa league against the English teams (Spurs & Chelsea) were very good

I thought it was obvious and what you were getting at <laugh>

Salah is a winger btw

ffs no idea why i thought he was a dm.

ok then you batards what about.

-------Masch/another------------Alonso---------

--------------------Coutinho-----------------

Salah--------------Studge-----------Luis-----

with Henderson,Allen,Sterling,Gerrard etc on the bench?

We aren't signing Alonso or Mascherano ffs <laugh>

What's this obsession with bringing back old players??

Why are we dropping Henderson, our second best player this season?

The way Henderson plays, he can become a legend for us. This is his breakthrough season.

I would love Mascherano.

I'll say it again, he's too expensive and his age does not fit our player purchase profile. On top of that you need to consider the type of game he would want to play and the style of football that we are now playing - the two are far from a perfect fit.

Very very few players returns to former clubs are happy affairs and I don't see enough in him to believe that he would do any different.

Finally, and most importantly he refused to play for us whilst he was still a Liverpool player. For me that is unforgivable and I never want to see him in our shirt again. You may be prepared to sacrifice your pride but he's not special enough for me as either a player of individual to even consider it.

Totally agree with this ^

only an idea of type of formation we could play, could swap a few plays around, be nice if we had some experience back in that CM though, we didn't do too bad last time we got an old player who was experienced ie Gary Mac.

whichever formation we play though it was to show the options we would/could have on the bench.

I agree I don't want Alonso or Masch there must be younger players out there that can take us forward. I rate Alonso but unless we can pick him up for very little money it's a no from me.

We sold him in his prime for £18m so no way would we buy him back 4 years later at the same price. AS everyone else has said, anywhere around £10m would be a good deal and just what we need in the middle at the moment. Not only a brilliant DM but loads of energy and very good on the ball (and could only have got better having trained at Barca for 4 years).

We also bought him for £18m too

It'd be Hendo. His legs would be down to stumps by the end of the season.

1. Salah seems to me to be another Assaidi. Looks great, fast, skillful in a weaker league. Then he gets here, realises we don't even play with true wingers and what then? Has a poor season like Aspas?

2. Masch being allowed to leave Barca during the years he should be at his prime for a defender/DM tells you all. He hasn't been incredible for them, useful certainly but they wouldn't cry without him. He has mostly been a backup player throughout his time at Barca. So the 18m would be based on nothing but the fact that its Barca selling him. He isn't better than when we sold him. Is he worse? Not sure but he is older this time round.

The way he left us in a difficult time for the club is for me the reason he shouldn't be bought. We never bought Torres back nor should we stoop to that level. Get a younger, hungrier player in his place.

He also plays the enforcer role where he breaks up play with hard tackles and sprints. He would get knackered immediately upon return to the physical Prem. Keep in mind he's just spent 3 years playing Sporting Gijon, Getafe, Osasuna, etc. Hardly a challenge. The few top level matches he's been involved in are rare as he's normally not a starter.

Do we need an enforcer? Maybe. But not Mascherano.

danilo...

1. you could be right on salah. I really don't know. i fancy rodgers "might like" to play with two wide men moving in and a false 9. but in reality he needs men who can play across the line and float. Is salah that? I have no idea.

2. YOu are right on masch. he had a "dream" just like kleb. In fact while he picked up medals he say on a bench of filled in for his time there so I think a reserve aint worth 18mil.

3. on when he left... well yes... but he did tell rafa he wanted to go and gave another year. anyone wanting to leave... well I probably agree you left and just leave it at that.

4. I would stick to the buy young and good route. someone 23 who's got it to prove. sure players for now are needed but that can be 23.
