Is it just me or are West Ham starting to resemble QPR from last year: buying big name players who would have been good signings 3-5 years ago: Downing, Joe Cole, Heitinga and paying them big wages.

Anyone think CH will actually sign a CAM?, he didn't in the transfer window, so I doubt it. A good CAM would have been very handy today! and yes I do think West Ham are becoming QPR-like, signing has-beens.

I think a creative attacking midfielder who also scores goals is the key to the rest of this season. Hoolahan is the only option at the moment. Yes Elmander can play there as a hybrid second striker/ACM option as well, but I still think another option is needed. For me, Howson and Fer are CMs who can attack rather than ACMs.

I know we are kind of ok for strikers but how about samaras from Celtic? Him and Hooper linked up really well. Just in case it turns out RVW is not up to the Premier League.

True, Everton and Newcastle are in quite a nice niche really, they can sign players no other teams in the Prem can due to wages being just a little on the high side, and most of the time bigger clubs won't compete for the same player.

He can apparently double as a left-winger, so I wouldn't rule it out, though it sounds as though Hull have already got him.

Don't think I'd really want Samras. Never rated him.

Based on Man City, yes, but if you see him as naturally a winger rather than an out-and-out striker he's been quite effective since.

Holds on to the ball for too long is the major problem, which doesn't really solve it for us, but at £1m I think he'd be an OK signing, if not a world-beater.

He does have a very consistent scoring ratio, and could give another option on the LW in a 4-3-3 when Pilks is injured or indeed act as striker if needed. The fact that he knows Hooper's game would certainly be an advantage.

Big blow for them, I thought that looked fairly nailed on. It doesn't sound like he's got another club firmly interested, he just fears relegation? In which case, not sure he's the right player for us either, as we need players up for the scrap should we get drawn further into it.
