Brendan Rodgers has revealed that there are no 'imminent' transfers expected at Liverpool but insisted the club's recruitment team are working hard to identify suitable recruits for the upcoming January window.

The Northern Irishman took full advantage of the opportunity to strengthen during the winter earlier this year when he completed the signings of playmaker Philippe Coutinho and striker Daniel Sturridge.

Rodgers' squad has been severely depleted by injuries in December, with the names of Joe Allen and Mamadou Sakho added to the list after picking up knocks in the defeat by Chelsea on Sunday.

The boss is committed to improving his options with each passing transfer window and he explained on Monday how work is being carried out behind the scenes to secure the right players next month.

He told reporters at his pre-Hull City press conference: "There's nothing to add on anything with regard to players coming in. There's nothing imminent.

"Obviously the recruitment team are busy putting things together in terms of the profile of players we need here to improve the team and the squad.

"The owners have invested millions upon millions into the team; every window we arrive in looking to improve it where we can. This window will be no different."

Liverpool suffered consecutive defeats in the Barclays Premier League last week, at Manchester City and Chelsea, thereby dropping to fifth place in the standings at the halfway point of the campaign.

With injuries mounting within the group at the moment, the manager intends to hand an opportunity to those who have not featured regularly in the first team so far this season.

"It doesn't change the outlook in terms of the depth we want within the team. This is a group that has always been labelled as a one-man team," Rodgers reflected.

"When Luis was playing, it was a 'one-man team'. He came out and we still continued to get results; Daniel Sturridge came out and we continued to get results; Steven Gerrard came out and we continued to get results.

"Importantly, on top of that, we got performances. We work in a certain way that aligns everyone into that model so everyone knows when they come into the team they know their job and specifically what they're doing.

"We'll always be reliant on the team ethic. We've got more injuries

I will merge with transfer thread after a bit, just didn't want it to get lost in the shuffle.

god that sounds like loan deals, hope i am wrong, could be a curve ball by Rodgers and we already have them lined up ready, but probably not lol

Its a bit late to be trying to identify targets so there will be players in mind. BR is rightly keeping things in house.

We can only a maximum of three loans at once, we already have Moses and Cissokho.

Think the only loan ( if sources are true but now going back and forth) would be Tello? Other than that can't see us loaning a DM or back?

No idea. My loan comment was in response to Jenners. We can't bring more than one loan in unless Cissokho or Moses are sent back.

can we give moses back or are we stuck with him?

Well we got rid of Sahin so don't see why we couldn't. At this moment he looks so disinterested that it may be better for all parties. He started out bright and looked like he had a point to prove but alas...

but that wouldn't be much loss that was my point, we could send both back and be looking for 3 loan deals, i know one is rumoured to be Tello and that is good news, but the 2 we have are poo and add nothing, well numbers, great.

i hope we are looking at purchases but i see the loan deal as a n excuse for the owners not to spend until Summer, by then could have ****ed our top 4 chances up.

I agree. I don't like us loaning players in, leaves the club at square one when the deal expires.

Hash where did you find that for Tello? I have heard things are close but also saw that Barca turned down us and Valencia for Tello's loan services? Also have seen Salah quoted at 7 mil.

About Tello: he's wanted on loan by half a dozen teams (including LFC) but Barcelona don't want to let him go. In the summer revaluation
