The guy was about 60 so ironically he could have been the fatality if he attempted to slap me.

It`s a metal gate to the flat with a door release button from the inside, i was with all 3 and they have walked out with me hundreds of times..

I know there is more to life than money, but unfortunately like almost everyone else bills and wives and children require me to spend 9-10 hours of my day trying to make it, so it will naturally preoccupy a lot of casual conversation.
That's where we differ. I've never been motivated by owning stuff and having loads of cash. I just want to have fun and spend time with the people i care about.
You need to reassess what you want from life.
Does taking drugs and getting pissed for years on end not feel very empty though Toby? I know it can be fun, I've done plenty of it in the past. But there's only so long you can do it till hedonism starts to become depressing. And there's nothing more tragic than the Fonzie-esque loser, nearer 40 than 20 but still trying to be cool.
You've scoffed at settled family men like myself on here, but there's nothing in life that compares to building a family. Your stoner mates will have all disappeared in a few years. Mine and Mick's "ugly kids" (quite why you feel the need to insult the offspring of anonymous people on the internet is another matter) will be around us for a lot longer.
I can't speak for Toby of course but perhaps he objects to some people asserting that their being married and having kids somehow makes them better than people who don't. What makes me laugh the most is there are a few on here constanty slating the public sector and complaining about having to pay for it but I very much doubt they send their kids to private schools, use private health care or send back the child benefit every fortnight.
I would guess the reason for his aggression was fear. He too got the fright of his life and anger is a natural reaction to a fright.
I don't think being married and having kids makes someone intrinsically better Dan. If you're happy then fair play to you. But you don't tend to mock the likes of Mick and I, nor do you try to claim that your life is more fulfilling.
As for benefitting from state help, I never complain about the taxes or national insurance I pay. I reckon I've more than broken even over the last few years.

Hope you and the family had a decent Christmas by the way.
I think I've slated certain aspects of the public sector before, but I do believe that the public sector is hugely important. If you've ever had a child lying in a hospital bed under a threat of death you'd give absolutely everything you own to save them - taking 10% of my wage off me directly and indirectly every month to pay for a service like this is highly agreeable to me (I think the UK spends more like 8% of GDP on health). I tend to criticise scenarios such as having working family tax credits propping up lower middle class lifestyles at the literal expense of things which are actually important to human happiness, like health and education.
Toby is the only angry bad ass left on GC...
