Magic vs Technology?

What would win if war between sides using technology and sides using magic ensued?

It is not as easy an answer as you think and has been major topic in philosophy for the last one hundred years and still they are no closer to coming to an answer.

As magic doesn't exist but we have the imagination to understand, the topic is universally discussed as using technology beyond our capable means but known to be possible.

Wizards can set people on fire, but so can technology. Wizards can repel fire, but so can technology. Wizard can turn buildings to dust, but as we know... Technology has already done this on a city wide scale (Hiroshima).

Arthur C Clark was once asked the question, he only said that any sufficiently advanced technology is like Magic. So what side would win in your opinion and have a minute to think about it before you give your reasons why as you may find a counter from the other side on your own.

It is an evil topic, you keep coming up with counter arguments <laugh>
 
Magic (paranormal) will always win over technology, because Magic embraces the power of the supernatural. The Greeks and the Persians evoked these powers in their daily lives, and in battle. Of course it raises the question of, is there a supernatural world (Greek Gods etc.)?

Magic is also mixed up with Religion, and According to Stanley Tambiah, magic, science, and religion all have their own "quality of rationality", and have been influenced by politics and ideology. Magic and religion are categories of beliefs and systems of knowledge used within societies. While generally considered distinct categories in western cultures, the interactions, similarities, and differences have been central to the study of magic for many theorists in sociology and anthropology, including Frazer, Mauss, S. J. Tambiah, Malinowski, Michael Nevin and Isabelle Sarginson. From the intellectualist and functionalist perspectives, magic is often considered most analogous to science and technology.

If only I had the time. I would really love to do some research into the supernatural and Greek mythology and ancient world and it's links to the great civilisations of the past.

I suffered for 6 years from Gout, and had been given all the current scientific medicine to no avail, then I was recommended by a friend to go and see a Chinese herbalist, the medication was apparently thousands of years old, and I am now cured of Gout, how come the ancient remedy works, and Medical Science failed? I have not had a debilitating Gout attack for more than 2 years.
 
The Chinese and Native Americans all swear by ancient medicines, especially medicines from plants and flowers etc.
Steven Seagal is also very much into this way of thinking and it is something that has fascinated me for a long time.

P.S. Project, I'd also use magic to create the biggest lightening storm the world has seen to rid technology of electricity.

Ahem, I should note that our feeble technology of today does indeed require electricity however future technology would likely use the vastly more effective dark energy convergence where the energy is extracted from the fabric of space and time itself, something the wizard wouldn't want to disturb as he would need the dark energy as do we all.... you know, so that the universe does not collapse under it's own weight thus killing himself in the process. <laugh>

To that I would have to add "...or any god(s)". I love the fantasy epics of Tolkein and I find Greek and Roman Mythology fascinating but like all such things they are created by man - just as the cults of Christianity and Islam that the masses now follow. All man-made myths to give people a credo to live by when in fact you don't need religion for a moral compass. At least, most people don't.

But I love Christmas because for me it's a time for family and friends, not for any religious purpose. Whatever floats your boat my friends.

But give me technology any day of the week. As a humanist I think that man can accomplish anything - provided we manage to escape the bounds of this beautiful planet before the big asteroid comes - and it will.

Foreseeing this event I sent agents back in time to clone my great grandparents, thus it was clones that were killed instead ;)

Well you leave me no choice but to generate anti matter which I can control at the flick of a finger while creating a force field to protect everything within it.
 
I thought everyone new technology is the strongest ! As the futures already been shown to us in accurate detail in the teachings of STARTREK.
