Not sure its been that unlucky teams get injuries we can't expect the first 11 to play all season as much as we would like that. Also not sure why you think there is suddenly no money to spend seems at odds with recent evidence. The problem in jan is getting value for money
We need a GK, one cb at least, lb on loan or try Targett. Also need to drop Lambert, I love the guy but he has been bad for about a month now.
He's been poor the majority of the time since Poch arrived, unfortunately. Still a solid squad player, but the system we use does not favour him, and his passing in the final third has been unusually inaccurate and/or poorly-weighted...don't know whether he's overthinking it, but the balls he used to thread through are going awry right now.
I think I kinow a young man who might go instead though. I got in an hour ago and bit the bullet; I watched the re-run of the game on fast-forward. I stopped at one point to see our 2nd goal at normal speed to hear England assistant coach, Gary Neville saying something like. "...and there's the man who deserves all the credit for that goal, Adam Lallana. He's been the best player on the pitch today"
All depends on what Cortese wants. If he wants us to finish where we are now a few loans are fine. If he wants us higher then we need to splash the cash again.
I think that our main problem aside from injuries has been selections. Rotating our centre backs causes confusion and we have changed our back four in every game since November. We also have no width at times unless the fullbacks get forward. I felt sorry for Fox today as he is not as quick as Clyne/Shaw etc. and Rodriguez was narrow. We say Lambert is not playing well, I just think we are not providing them enough support and play the ball around a lot deeper in front of the opposition where we are not hurting them. Our strikers get little possession and therefore look ineffective. Likewise our midfield is full of talent but when there are so many people in a congested area we need to try other outlets instead of trying to thread it through the eye of the needle.
We haven't really rotated have we? The changes we have made are because of injury. Fonte hasn't been right for some time now, Yoshida played a game and had a stinker. Now Hooiveld has done the same, it's not like we had much choice in picking who plays.
I didn't say we rotated through choice. Fonte came back in for one game and then has been out since. I still think we need to adjust our philosophy sometimes instead of trying to play through teams. We had nothing on the left going forward today, which is a pity as Kyle Walker is not too great defensively in my opinion.
But the injuries are the thing that make us rotate. So basically injuries are the main cause for our down fall.
I think that if we want to improve, we need to be buying better than we already have. Why buy yet more cover at centre back? If we buy someone better than Fonte, Fonte then becomes the cover and the squad has improved overall. Personally, I can't see us getting a decent left back unless on loan. Who's going to come to us to sit behind an 18 year old and hardly play, with no prospect of a secure first team place? I see our problem being the lack of a Reserve league, meaning players such as Yoshida, Ramirez and Hooiveld aren't getting game time when out of the first team, so when they are thrown in, they lack match sharpness.
8 games in a month is something he would never have encountered in La Liga. Players fitness levels will drop and sometimes you will have to risk playing someone who is carrying a knock to secure 3 points. That's the nature of our league and something he will have to learn. Reinforcements in January would be good, strange MP thinks not. I'm sure NC will inform him the errors of his ways
I think it's more a case Pochettino thinks we need more players to. But doesn't want to effect confidence even more then it is.
