Asked if he felt he could succeed where predecessors O'Driscoll, Derek McInnes and Keith Millen have failed, Cotterill said: "It's not a matter of if, but when.

"I will turn things around here, be in no doubt about that. You cannot survive on faith alone.

"This is a fantastic club with good supporters and a brilliant owner and it is going to have a fantastic new stadium. As a manager, you cannot wish for too much more.

"Bristol City have not been used to winning for a few years now and we have to get that winning mentality back into the club.

"The fans turn up and expect us to win a game and, when that happens, it becomes a better club all-round.

"Unfortunately, I'm a little bit impatient. I want to win, I want to be top of the league and I want to be successful.

"I want to get what I want very quickly and, when I don't get it, I become frustrated. I want to be patient, but I'm not very good at it. That's because I'm a winner."

That's the sort of fighting talk that I, for one, want to hear.

He can talk the talk but can he walk the walk....only time will tell. I will give my thoughts after 12 games, that's normally enough time to know if he knows what he's doing.

'I will give my thoughts after 12 games'

I knew with SOD after 1 game in L1.
After 1 league game I'm pretty sure about Cotterill.

Playing JET up top and not behind a front 2, Gillett in midfield and Wagstaffe anywhere will confirm it.

Can't judge him after 1 league game mate. He has to have a look at the players that's available. We could see a completely different team tomorrow which beat Notts C 5-0 (highly unlikely). Gary J lost 7 in a row when he first took over and has been our best manager in recent years. Very silly to judge a manager as a failure after only 2 games

Every fan at every club he has managed all said that he loves playing long ball football so I guess we shouldnt be shocked thats what we have been witnessing which isnt much difference to what we saw previously this season.

I guess what lets the manager down is he hasnt learn from teh mistkes of the previous manager that if you are going to play that way you need someone up top who is going to win the ball so playing Baldock up front on his own is a waste of time. If he is a manager who cannot learn that having so say seen us this season we are doomed.

Currently I dont have much hope for us unless he is going to change the formation and some of the players which hopefully January we might see that and then hope there is still enough games but I think we will have to rely on other teams for us to stay up.

Yes I know its been one league game so far but I think it showed a lot about the style of football he will bring. Only positives were Reid is back from injury and Burns was given some game time.

I think the long ball game and being physical is what you need to be successful at this level. Pretty football away at the likes of Stevenage is not what's needed.

Playing in such a way, if it brings results, will shut most (but not all) people up.

This is such a poor league that if we do go down, then we deserve to and the board will then need to admit their total mis-management of the club from top to bottom.

I think SOD's time with us proved that trying to play like Barcelona at this level is just not doable. If you can pull it off you'll walk to the title, but the quality just won't be there.

One of our biggest flaws as a team is having so many inconsistent players. Every few games Baldock will look like scoring, and every other game JET will look good, and every other game from that Flint will have a great game. Where we fail is when one of our players is having a bad game. The manager can gloss over things by saying it was a good team performance, but when each player is so inconsistent we're guaranteed to either leak goals or to not score them.

Hoofball will at least put a bit more luck into our game. Instead of having inconsistent players trying to move the ball around, and ultimately giving it away, we'll have players trying to push the ball into the box and towards the opposition net.

Yeh, and I've read your forecasts for the last 3 seasons promising all sorts.

Have any of yours been right ?

    Mine ?

Don't listen to the cock Shiny, SoD was here 20 games last season so he wasn't quite that quick to judge.

Time is the only way to tell but maybe someone should remind SC that our time will run out faster than he might think. Maybe by the New Year we will not be at a safe place to judge him but we are certainly able to judge his players.
