Why do people still think the Shola Ameobi thing and players being seen in supermarket car parks etc etc is still funny? It was mildly amusing for about 3 posts after first being mentioned.
Err... Carrabuh. That's the point - it's not funny. It is a modern part of English culture that we have repetitive jokes that simply aren't funny. You're normally quicker off the mark on this sort of thing.
Rob, there are people on here who really do think they are being funny. And even in the context you say, it has to be so bad its funny.
On your first point, fair enough, but I don't think you flagging it is necessarily going to change their opinion of their own jokes As for the second, I disagree. There are plenty of repetitive jokes that are god-awful-but-not-so-awful-that-they-are-awfully-funny. Take (topically) Christmas cracker jokes. Most of those are not so bad they're funny, that's not the point. They're just bad.
Well that's more or less how I feel about the Shola jokes! Maybe you're just lagging way behind on the rest of us and haven't yet made it to the "oh, not that old chestnut again" stage.
Nah, I had The Doc playing on the left side of a forward three with Eric Clapton on the right and Nora Batty through the middle. I had Ruth Madoc alongside Nordtveit at the back, lovely player she was, real lovely mover
Would Joe Ledley be worth looking at? Only six months left on his Celtic contract and could enable one of, or both, of the Murphy brothers to go out on loan.
I always liked Ledley when he was at Cardiff, but haven't seen so much of him at Celtic. Has a good scoring record for a midfielder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Ledley
Daily mail's transfer gossip http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2528404/THE-TRANSFER-COLUMN-Liverpool-eye-Rakitic-possible-Premier-League-return-Alonso.html says Kyle Naughton is available to buy but sunderland want him on loan. I'd hope if this is true we'd be aware of it and be interested still the best full back we've had in the prem in my eyes
He had a nightmare against Liverpool in Spurs 0-5 loss and was taken off at half time. So he should fit it at NCFC brilliantly . Also, he scored one of the best own goals I've ever seen for Sheffield Utd in the FA Cup. That said, I still rate him and think RB is a position we should be looking to strengthen in the summer but wouldn't say it was a priority.
I thought he played more as a central midfielder now though, so wouldn't necessarily be competition for the wing positions? Having said that, I think he's definitely worth looking at. That wiki page reckons: So powerful, box-to-box midfielder with a decent pass on him? In my ideal 4-3-3 he'd then be competition for Fer against decent sides, or could be played instead of Johnson/Tettey when we're looking to take control of games, and in a 4-4-2 he'd offer more than Johnson too. Valued at £3.1m, but with 6 months on his contract we'd never have to pay more than that. Certainly someone I'd be interested in.
