Gradel didnt track back well? Am I remembering him differently? I do this sometimes, but I am sure Gradel was a work horse down that flank. As I said, I could be remembering him wrong!
I seem to remember him doing a lot of tracking back and helping the defence, certainly more than Snodgrass ever did
maybe my mind is palying on me. You can't really compare him to snoddy though as he tended to be quite lazy although he did often do some fairly decent slide tackles. I distinctly remember Gradel giving away a fair few bad fouls. We did also concede alot from that left hand side, probably more to do with poor left backs though.
Not quite as relevant now. We have Rudy, who is fully fit. We have Brown to cover and do the hard yards for everyone. And we have a solid back 3/5 to save a lot of pointless running around by those we want to be creating chances. Which ever way you shake it, a fully fit Max either creating chances or scoring them has to be good news. That said, I'll believe it when I see it.
I disagree. We will end up paying a high transfer fee and high wages for a player that has had some injury problems, has tantrums and hasn't really had he same sort of form since us. There is nothing to guarantee he will do as well this time and the team is set up in a different way which I don't particularly think will suit him. I would prefer if we looked elsewhere personally especially for the money he will cost.
Theres some stuff on NewsNow about Gradel and I knew he was injured much of this year, but didn't think it was a cruciate ligament. Wow, sorry but he will have lost pace whetever happens and thats the best case. he will not be the same player and will need a thourough medical and the price will be minimal now. I reckon this is too much of a gamble, but I trust the menager and if he says he's fit, fast and raring to go ....
As I said I would lose a little bit of respect for McD if he did sign him. It just feels like its just to an easy way to appease fans and not really what the club need
Fair spot Doc. Cruciate ligament damage is likely to be a deal breaker given the rigours of even the Championship. So maybe he won't come or maybe he'll be offered a pay as you play contract that he might well not agree to.
Didn't track back, must be a different Max,because the one I watched covered every blade of the grass and fast, never stopped running and I would go as far as to say we wouldn't have got promoted without him.
Have to agree with Josh to a degree, sounds like a move to appease misty-eyed nostalgic Leeds fans. Probably the same ones who were clamouring for us to re-sign Beckford. Gradel was a great player for us, but times have changed, he's suffered a major injury, he's inevitably going to ask for big wages and there's no guarantee he'll be as good this time round.
Beckfords a championship standard player at best, don't want him back.Gradel could be a top premier league player,no guarantee how good he will be after injury but I'm not qualified to judge him on that so will leave that to the experts.
The past is a foreign country etc. Going back doesn't usually work, but a fully fit gradel is a game changer who can provide some spark. Something we have been crying out for. At the right price, if he's over his injury I'd welcome him back. He's a bit of a hot head but strikes me that he's the kind of guy who needs to feel wanted and he'd get that here. Well, for a honeymoon period at least! Re McKay Stevens, mentioned earlier. We get linked with him every transfer window. Has anyone actually watched him play? Regularly? I haven't. Everyone gets a bit excited about him, but I'd want to see more than a few cruyff turns on soccer am. Filipe da costa had a decent highlight reel.
I'm firmly in the 'don't sign Maxi' camp. Loved him as a player when he was with us. Now he's older, getting paid much more than we can afford, and most importantly, has had a seriuos injury, the long term impact of which cannot be assessed yet. We haven't got the money to take an expensive gamble, so should steer well clear. Now if we got him for nowt & he agreed to seriously chop his wages, it might be worth a gamble. That's not going to happen, so lets use any money we have wisely.
Well he's been back playing since October,so I take it the club have been watching and monitoring him so they should know better than us.

Max had no positional awareness when tracking back, he ran around a lot but with no particular direction. Don't just remember what he did well for the club. He didn't have the technique of Snoddy and I think thats what let him down (and Snoddy didn't have the pace of Max which let him down). He did well for us but only for 1 season. And what you talking about wouldn't have got promoted if it wasn't for max, he almost cost us promotion I really believe we could spend this money better.
Oh it's allways about the money!!!! If we were told B McD was chasing a 26 yr old left winger, who has played the last two years in french first division, and has over 20 caps for the ivory coast. I'm sure most on here would be estatic. He has only been sent off once(and we all remember that!) He is not being resigned by his old manager,so no contract for mates stuff. The big worry is his recent bad injury, but that is up to the medical staff!!!!!!!! So summing up a yes from me,although I'm usually not in favour or resigning players.
Didn't go Tranmere and Yeovil away did you,he pretty much single handed won those games on his own he was our best defender, midfielder and forward those games. And we wouldn't have got promoted without him because we would have been 10 pts off second spot without him.Norwich at home his first sub game for us ask anyone who went that game we would have got no points had he not come on and changed the game.
