Been thinking about this a bit given today.

In Terry Neill, Spurs had quite a dire manager, whose appointment was
not that joyously approved by the supporters. But even then, Keithy was
in the setup, and his time duly came.

So fast forward to today. Is the Spurs pipeline basically Sherwood and Freund ??
It hardly bodes well for the future does it.

I can't see anyone at the club having their time duly come, if that happens then we're walking from mistake to mistake. If you look at our recent history. Santini Hired, Jol comes in.

    Ramos hired, Redknapp comes in.

Avb hired, TBC (;)) comes in.

We make a mistake with a managerial appointment and then after that mistake we're rewarded with a good replacement, so hopefully the next manager will be of similar to Jol & Redknapp, rather then Graham and Ramos!

I think most of us have seen the pattern that has emerged over the past 20 years at Spurs and it's ludicrous really. Going from ****e to good to ****e again is a cycle we need to get out of but with the same Chairman deciding who gets hired, who gets fired won't change that.

I can safely predict that if our new manager proves to be very good and brings relative success, many fans will be licking Levy's boots again saying who much of a great Chairman he is yadda yadda until he goes and inexplicably fires the guy just like he always does!

    Enough is enough.

The issue I have is that each manager brings in his own crew.
And when that manager goes, his crew gets cleared out too (by association) .
Which leaves nothing in the pipeline.

I think Baldini will be playing a big part in hiring the new manager which also puts his neck on the line if the appointment fails.

Out of interest does anyone have any basis to doubt Sherwood and Freund other than what Spurcat has said? Not doubting Spurcat's opinions, I do value them but it does seem like there's a sort of unanimous dislike of Sherwood and Freund on here so I was wondering if I'd missed something. It doesn't seem like long ago we were all hoping Sherwood wouldn't accept the Blackburn job and stay on with us instead.

Taking aside SC's comments, Freund looks as daft as a brush, the type of person who is a nice guy and full of personality but has no credibility to be in a role which involves managing the club. Sherwood has always struck me as an arrogant man, who has an inflated opinion of himself, plus hes a gooner and I've never been a fan of "the job for the boys" which was one problem I had with Redknapp, was his hiring of people like Sherwood and Ferdinand, just because of who they where, rather then bringing in proper coaches.

Spurcat has been honest about his personal dislike of Sherwood.
But he is also observing Sherwood in a professional context.
I would note his opinions on whether Sherwood is at this moment capable of
managing a PL club such as Spurs.

I know he is but there are lots of people involved in football who I respect but it doesn't mean I necessarily assume they're right in their opinion. It's great to hear his opinions and the bits of insight he can give us but I'd still reserve some judgement on them.

That doesn't mean I want them managing the club though, I think it'd be a stupid move not to give it someone without a proven record in management(again!).

    Tis a question of credence.
You might not like say my or Spurcats' opinions on Sherwood, Or think they are right.
But Spurcats' opinions are likely to be based on far more credible/objective criteria than mine.
And so would be worth noting.

OK, so based on the evidence in this thread clearly there is only one person for the job, it has to be an internal appointment, a supporter of Redknapp and Jol, someone who sussed AVB pretty quickly, it cant be Sherwood or Freund and we can't trust Baldini or Levy to make a choice....

    Spurcat, step forward.

Well, for now Freund keeps his job, as only the Portugeezers have left.

Considering we have 3 caretakers just announced in Sherwood, Les, and Chris Ramsey, I have no idea why AVB's no.2 (what Freund is) is retained. Do 3 caretakers need a No.2 ??

Any word on if the medical staff will survive the chop yet? I'd quite like to see some of our players return to full fitness.

Harry had a reshuffle of the medical staff, and so to (on a lesser extent), did Villas-Boas. I would anticipate any further changes will be down to the new manager.

Which club apart from Man U and Woolwich do not regularly switch manager? Even successful managers at City and Chelsea have been fired. It is the way things are done these days-I doubt Moyes will stay for his 6 years and as soon as Wenger leaves they will chop and change. Everyone wanted rid of AVB despite him being our most successful for years. Everyone wants rid of Levy despite our club being one of the best run clubs-give the man some credit. Some of the criticism is more than just opinion...

Support the club including the management at all levels!

Sherwood needs help and the other two don't! that premise makes sense I suppose, but I can't help thinking of Sherwood as manager and Freund No.2 as the blind leading the blind!
