For those that have only really seen him with England here is a vid of how Madrid won the 06-07 league. This is against the Barca team that won the 2006 CL against Arsenal. Watching this vid, it appears Madrid pressed high and got plenty of balls into the box. This is a tactic that works very well in the prem, and if he can get us scoring whilst getting the defence back to being the water tight one it was earlier in the year then we could be on to something. Playing too high, not giving the wingers freedom and not creating enough are the current issues and I think he would certainly improve these aspects. We have never been in a position to take on such a qualified man, so even if he is not my cup of tea personality wise I certainly respect his achievements. (same for Benitez...when have we ever had league winning/CL winning managers being realistically touted for us?)
Don't see Capello wanting to manage in England again, had a tough time with that job, plus he's got the opportunity to manage in the World Cup again. Can see it being Laudrup, hope it's Pardew though.
For: * Proven track record * Milan dominated Serie A * Milan and Factitious played good football * Removed disruptive elements from the Factitious dressing room Against: * Huge salary * Coaching Russia for the World Cup * Never got England playing watchable football * Winning things with Factitious is a coin flip, not an achievement * Failed to deal with disruptive elements in the England dressing room * He isn't lauded in Italy, despite his achievements, he receives grudging respect
Don't know how you could want postman pat, it was pathetic the way he still didn't speak a word of English after all his time with the national team
Found another good vid. The attacks all seem to be at pace, and with plenty of people in the box and attacking with purpose. International football is very different, so I think it would not be fair to judge him just on his time with England (who qualied very well with him tbf)
fair comment. It's not so much that I want him, just that he is far better than the people we have been linked with in the past or present... Santini Ramos Jol Pleat Hoddle Harry AVB Gross the only person that comes close for pedigree is..... Graham
I distinctly remember him speaking English on Gazetta Football Italia a few times. I think he pretended he couldn't speak English to get out of as many media commitments as he could - which, frankly, doesn't reflect well on him at all.
He was sacked after winning that title with Real Madrid because of his boring football. "Capello responded to those critics by saying that the beauty of attacking plays was old. He said that results were much more important than playing beautifully." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fabio_Capello No thanks.
I'm sure Mourinho and many others (bar Wenger) would say the same thing. Results are what matter 100% to Managers. Pretty football is a luxury for most.
There were an awful lot of Spurs fans saying that results were more important earlier this season when people pointed out your poor scoring record.
More worrying if this happens is that it means Baldini has Levy's ear...another DOF (who I had doubts over from day one) disaster is in full swing imo.
Not wumming but think he is too big a name. Capello is one of the most successful managers of the last couple of decades at club level and has managed some of the biggest clubs in the world. Cant see why he'd leave when he's about to manage at the World Cup to join you.
He's generally seen as very cold and stand-offish, needlessly grumpy, and (to quote WSC) "too northern" so **** off notso
I was going to question that too, Capello was loved by the Italian media...why was he affectionately nicknamed "Don Fabio". This is a clip when he was appointed England manager. "Capello was so respected by the Italian media that they called him âDon Fabioâ . It remains to be seen if Fleet Streetâs finest will be similarly won over if he continues not to play the tabloid headline game, but it should certainly be an interesting ride." Just seen hbics reply, he read it in his comic!...ok!
Thing is, though, that Spurs have shown massive intent on getting int he CL, and pushing for a league title win. You can see that from the fact that AVB has been sacked, despite his stats bearing up to the best of all the managers before him. Levy clearly thinks that we should be doing better, so I doubt that he'd be willing to trade at the same level as AVB, and will want to go for someone with a proven record, even if that means splashing out on the cash needed to get him in. All of that will be attractive to any manager, even those that our bitter rivals may think would look down on lowly Spurs.
I think most people would say you were right CO1YOH (catchy name) however I'm just responding to the bookies, and general chat. There is also the Baldini link which seems to be fuelling most of the rumours imo.
And they were at that point, while the squad "gelled". That was a fair excuse. Now we're almost halfway through the season though, and I'd have expected to see some signs of improvement.
