Fair enough - I'd not realised that and perhaps am guilty of being swept up in that negativity wave that seemed to be coming from the Spurs fans I know. You have to question Levy and Baldini as to their slightly scattergun recruitment too. Short odds on Capello. Apparently he was at the game yesterday....so...
It's seems to be just about as much about posture and status rather than making a change for the better. Spurs are in no danger of troubling the Champions League as they are, with the player additions who are not performing as yet as they are adjusting. But Levy is chairman of a club that doesn't get beaten 6-0 [A] and 5-0 [H] and 3-0 [H] against West Ham. There are teams who get whacked by those scores, but because they are making up the numbers, their managers survive. Spurs can't be seen to be beaten that badly. It's bad for their image.
Didi Hamman just suggested Pochettino on Sky Sports. Jamie Redknapp said good shout. I kicked my television.
Hamman has it in for us for some reason. He's on a Racing Post betting panel on Saturdays; last week he gave Newcastle as his best bet of the weekend, the previous Saturday he suggested backing Saints to finish in the bottom half. Fuggim.
Let's look at the facts: - Lots of key injuries - Star banned for red card - Hammered at home by a team that plays a similar style to us (just a lot quicker and with top striker) - Big game midweek in the cup - Sacked their manager causing instability and uncertainty I think all this works in our favour to be honest…COYRs lets take advantage and kick them whilst they are down!
Surprisingly this only makes me more confident about the weekend. Saints away is the kind of game you want should approach with meticulous preparation, if you can deal with our plan A, you can win (see Villa). Sacking the manager on Monday is not going to improve those chances. Sure they want to impress the new guy etc but you still need to bring a tactic.
Absolutely gutted that AVB has gone just before our game. Would have been confident of a sneaky win with that clown still in charge. Now he's gone I'm going for a 1-2 Spurs win.
Tottenham's away form under AVB has actually been excellent (bar Man City, but then they banged 6 past Arsenal too). Hopefully that will disappear with him!
Very bad. I was positive we would beat them, in fact never in my life have i been so sure in something New coach changes a lot. They have a number of class player and without AVB to limit them, they could be dangerous.
They will be very interested in MP. Any top club looking for a manager will be looking at us and what MP has done since he's been here. We need to get used to not only our players being linked with moves but our manager as well and even our chairman.
OK. We were thinking about maybe letting Spurs off the hook and just drawing with them, but just for you, we'll beat them. Any particular scoreline in mind..? Our favourite used to be 3-1, but nowadays we have a defence reputation to keep so 2-0 is better.
Another knee jerk stupid sacking. AVB has done ok with Spurs given Bale's departure. He is a decent manager and a nice bloke.
