This was in the Express today. Also a rejected bid for Pato. It looks like we're really going for a CF now. Arsenal have £6.5m bid rejected for Tottenham target Alexandre Pato Pato, nicknamed 'The Duck', has only netted ten times since arriving at the Timao, but will require a higher sum than £6.5m to tempt the Sao Paulo club to sell. A number of uninspiring performances and a shocking penalty in a shootout against Gremio - which saw his side knocked out of the Copa do Brazil in October - has meant Pato has only started three of the club's last 11 league games. Tottenham reportedly had a £12.5m bid rebuffed in the summer, and are set to battle their north London rivals to the signature of the Brazil international.
How can a newspaper get away with printing that we've signed a player on loan? It is one thing to peddle a bull**** rumour, but another to say its a done deal.
Wenger will normally give an ''"Look, I will not give you any names" type comment when asked about actual targets. If he denies them they are generally just BS.
If we are after a short term backup.. How about Berbatov? Would be cheap, technically brilliant and would be a good second choice CF.
Top player but the big question is, would he fit in our system? He's one of those lazy players that needs space, we play a fast paced, passing fluid football.
A back up striker should be someone who works hard like Giroud does. Maybe someone with a bit more pace who isn't quite as strong could be a good choice. That would give someone to get behind the lines but still be able to hold the ball up. Don't know who though...
Here's my January or Summer prediction.. Suarez to Real for around 50-60 Million. Benzema to Arsenal. I know some fans are unconvinced but he has been a long term target and should he become available I think we will swoop.
According to the Metro and that Sanderson fellow, we might be going for this character in January. Is he any good? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antoine_Griezmann
Jamie Sanderson was quite reliable a few years back but he seems to have gone off the boil recently. I don't know anything about Griezman though. I do like the rumours that keep linking us to Michy Batshuayi (including from the player himself - we're apparently a dream club). He's getting better and better in Belguim and is meant to be very good albeit a bit of a d*ck. I don't mind that so much as long as he does the business on the pitch. RVP had that reputation in the Netherlands before joining us which is partly why we'd got him so cheap. Batshuayi wouldn't be cheap I think but the current Belguim youth crop is pretty fooking useful. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michy_Batshuayi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zk2Y5sfoh8 He looks quick and strong. The video gets better as it goes on but yeah, it's youtube and all that so they're hardly going to show him falling on his arse.
My rumor watching is really switched off since I learned that we at no point made a move for Higuain in the summer. I've come to the conclusion that 90% of transfer rumours are made up and the other 10% are just rubbish!
Good news on the Sagna front, looks like he may be ready to sign a two-year contract extension, according to the Mirror.
Speaking of strikers, would anyone be happy with Remy as a long term option? The guy reminds me of Henry.
Seriously..? Henry the Hoover maybe? Sorry, I cant stand Remy. Good finisher but awful everywhere else. For me he's another Darren Bent. Just will never be TOP level. This side would be SOO much better with a World Class finisher.. Here's my list..(in order of preference of the strikers we are currently 'linked' to) 1. Cavani. 2. Suarez 3. Huntelaar 4. Costa 5. Benzema 6. Benteke 7. Dzeko 8. Martinez
For me, Benzema is a definite option. He hasn't exactly set the world alight at Madrid but I think Arsenal would be a better fit for him. We need backup, any backup.
