Well, so we have an Irishman, a Welshman and a Scotsman in the top 3. England really has gone down the ****ter this year. <laugh>

"No matter how excited I am, my voice still sounds incredibly boring. It's how I am." - Andy Murray, 2013.

So, where has the support for British cycling suddenly disappeared to? I know Andy Murray was a shoe-in for the SPOTY, but I can't believe the man who won the Tour de France in an even more emphatic fashion than Wiggo last year didn't even get into the top 3!

It was such an exciting live vote that they already had the trophy in Miami!

Wimbledon winner for the first time in 70 odd years was always going to win it and rightly so. He actually comes across well really well now, so good for him.

Agree though that Froome is really unlucky not to get into the top three although I would say the jocky was deserving of a top 3 place.

Should have been 1st Murray 2nd Froome 3rd AP McCoy IMO.

That will shorten after he scores a hat trick in the world cup final!

Wonder what you could get on Saints to be team of the year and Pochettino to be coach of the year? :D

Indeed. I voted for Ben Ainslie fairly early on, 'cause I felt like it, and then switched to BBC4.

I did stay for the Helen Rollason Award, which was deserved.

Ha, on twitter, have a look at @ploughpub.

They've sacked the head chef, who has access to the twitter account. Oops.

That's funny. "Everything else that's bought from Asda"

A bit unfair but if you are a head chef, I guess you would have to expect to work weekends and Christmas day.

Psssh, they should give it to his horse. All he has to do is sit on a horse, crouched down and hit it repeatedly with a stick. It's the horse that does all the work.

I don't really get jockeying, but given that jockeys don't have their own horses and instead race on hundreds of different ones, I think his success is pretty impressive.

Yep, I'm with you there. I'm sure a lot of people will jump on me when I say **** that sport.

I think Danny Mills is the new half-decent pundit of the MOTD crowd. Don't think we'll ever see him and Gary Lineker on the same programme though.

I'm afraid I also say **** that sport because it would have all the profile of dog racing if the Royal Family didn't have a huge history with it.

On the other hand, my other favourite outdoor pastime, sailing wouldn't exist without Royal patronage either. But horse racing would die almost immediately if betting wasn't involved. Most other sports exist for their own reason.

    Sorry Mick Channon.
