So before the red card we were 2-0 up and you think they were capable of a draw or winning, is there any possibility in your biased view that with half an hour left we could have added to our lead?

Come on tobes the result mirrored our tactics and commitment, and let's not forget teams with a player sent off can win games, even cup fa cup finals.<whistle>

    positively beaming over here.

    delighted.

i said friday that due to no poll on this thread where i could vote draw i had to say we've lose... my superstition pay off! <laugh>

I must say that spurs were poor. they failed to press us at all and so we had lots of time to do whatever.

however... coutinho was brilliant. sterling destroyed naughton who should have been carded twice, he just didn't deliver a final ball really another good showing form the boy that he can build on. more to come from him... I hope so. Lucas, henderson and allen basically were let do what they liked which says it all about AVBs tactics. we did well all over the pitch...

Pressing really works, we haven't done half enough of that all year IMO but here we are 2 points off top and beaming.. everyone is still in this title race which is I think astounding frankly but hey... its great for us to bank those points and look to cardiff now.

Agree that Spurs were poor, but that shouldn't detract from a good performance from our lads.
They gave us a ridiculous amount of space at the back (their back) and we could have had seven or eight tbh.

Think that's the point though, first ten minutes they tried to press as other teams have this year but our midfield responded by increasing the intensity in the tackle, in the pace of our passing, in covering the pitch to make themselves available for the ball and Spuds just couldn't cope. After the first ten minutes our entire team from back to front kept in touch in a way they haven't done all season.

Let's not be so quick to say Spurs gave us the space to play. We created that space with the effort. Fairs fair, we've criticized our team when we got hustled into gaps appearing so I'm going to applaud the same team when they finally do it to the opposition.

Also, goal contributions from other than Suarez.

    Let's keep it up!

As I said that was the closest to what I think Brendan wants his team to do.

Disagree with Spurs giving us space. We made the space with intelligent first touch passing. Sandro and Dembele pressed our midfield the first half and we responded by keeping calm under pressure and finding a man, this is the first time this season we've always had an outball, the whole structure of our team was first class today and huge amounts of credit has to go to Brendan for that.

    Role on Cardiff.

Also Alberto was very good when he came on, not only did he win the ball back for the fifth but it was a beautiful assist for the fourth too, looks a very calm and tidy player.. Would like to see him get more game time.

Have to say before the game thought we would be out muscled in midfield but the lads in there along with Couthino and sterling ran rings round them Spurs were poor but only because we made them look poor. As good a performance as I've seen this season esp against top half opposition.
Special mention to Flannagan , who I thought had blown it with us , but he's been really impressive and today kept walker going the opposite way to what he normally does, very impressive performance from him.

I think the fact that Spurs were awful because of the way we played has to be acknowledged, enjoying the moment is something we all need to do. Now blowing it against Cardiff is now the priority and then seeing how we get on against City and Chelsea.

Today I was particularly impressed with how quickly we pressed them and harrried around their players as soon as we lost possession, we were all over them. But boy, Spurs are a bloody slow team, they telegraph every pass! But we slice through their defence like a knife through hot butter. Role on next week! And Suarez' form along with the other will surely see us steamroll Cardiff

Wow - just wow. Pretty much the perfect away performance. Every single player delivered. Standouts for me were: Suarez, Coutinho, Henderson, Allen, Sterling and Sakho.

The passing, movement, pressing - top notch. This is BR's vision for LFC. This is how he wants to play. Total football.

Also, am I allowed to say 'look at how well we played without Gerrard' or is it too soon? ;)
